The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world's worst humanitarian crises, helping to restore health, safety, education, economic wellbeing, and power to people devastated by conflict and disaster. Founded in 1933 at the call of Albert Einstein, the IRC is one of the world's largest international humanitarian non-governmental organizations (INGO), at work in more than 40 countries and 29 U.S. cities helping people to survive, reclaim control of their future and strengthen their communities. Most work is from 9a-5p, with occasional evenings or weekend activities, or appointments in the early mornings for things such as school bus orientations.
Administrative support (phone calls, filing, data entry, collected signed paperwork, etc.)
Provide transportation for clients and their families to appointments.
Assist with preschool and school enrollments. Duties include completing school enrollment paperwork, collecting documents, obtaining parental signatures, and delivering forms to schools.
Be sensitive to the differences of clients. Respect their beliefs and values, which may differ from yours.
Record hours and submit completed timesheet for each month via the IRC’s online Volunteer Dashboard.
REQUIREMENTS:
Pursuing an undergraduate or master’s degree
Strong interpersonal skills and interest in working with the refugee community
Occasional evening or weekend availability
Ownership of a car and a valid driver’s license and car insurance
