Responsibilities
The Executive Benefits Specialist will administer recurring NQDC plan activities, including enrollment, distributions, and participant data changes. They will also reconcile participant data, investigate discrepancies, and coordinate with internal and external partners to ensure accurate plan delivery.
Requirements
Candidates must have 2-5 years of experience in retirement plan administration, executive compensation, or financial services operations. Proficiency in Excel and the ability to interpret technical plan provisions and regulatory documentation are required.
Are you looking to join an industry-leading team and deliver high-quality service in a client-focused environment? If so, consider our Executive Benefits Specialist role.
Aon is seeking a detail-oriented benefits or financial services professional to support the administration of nonqualified deferred compensation (NQDC) plans and related executive benefit programs. You will work with corporate plan sponsors, executive-level participants, recordkeeping and administrative systems, and internal partners to deliver accurate, timely, and high-touch service.
The strongest candidates will have direct NQDC experience or transferable experience in retirement plan administration, pension administration, executive compensation, stock plan administration, trust or recordkeeping operations, payroll administration, or another regulated financial-services environment involving participant accounts, plan provisions, transactions, and reconciliations.
This hybrid position offers flexibility to work both virtually and from our Atlanta, GA, Dallas, TX, or Radnor, PA offices. Although we would prefer candidates to work hybrid in one of above offices, we would be willing to consider a virtual work arrangement for a strong candidate.
Aon is in the business of better decisions
At Aon, we shape decisions for the better to protect and enrich the lives of people around the world.
As an organization, we are united through trust as one inclusive, diverse team, and we are passionate about helping our colleagues and clients succeed.
What the day will look like
Administer recurring NQDC plan activities, including annual enrollment, deferral elections, company contributions, vesting, investment allocations, distributions, and participant data changes.
Interpret plan provisions and established administrative procedures to respond to plan sponsor and participant questions accurately.
Coordinate data and transaction activity with clients, payroll teams, recordkeepers, trustees, carriers, and internal partners.
Reconcile participant and plan-level data, investigate discrepancies, document findings, and drive issues to resolution.
Maintain accurate plan documentation, participant records, procedures, and audit support materials.
Use Excel and database tools to validate data, analyze activity, and support recurring and ad hoc reporting.
Manage multiple client deliverables and deadlines while maintaining strong quality controls and confidentiality.
Identify process improvements that strengthen accuracy, efficiency, consistency, and the client and participant experience.
Build knowledge of NQDC plan mechanics, Internal Revenue Code Section 409A, corporate-owned life insurance (COLI), and related executive benefit arrangements.
How this opportunity is different
Aon’s Executive Benefits team specializes in programs designed for executives and other select employees. This role offers exposure to the administration, participant experience, financial data, and operational controls associated with nonqualified deferred compensation and related executive benefit programs. It is a focused opportunity for someone who wants to build deeper expertise in the retirement and executive compensation space rather than broad-based health and welfare benefits.
Skills and experience that will lead to success
2-5 years of experience in at least one of the following areas:
Nonqualified deferred compensation or executive benefit plan administration;
Qualified retirement or pension plan administration, recordkeeping, or participant services;
Executive compensation, equity or stock plan administration;
Trust, custody, payroll, accounting, or financial-services operations involving participant accounts, transactions, reconciliations, and plan or contract provisions.
Demonstrated ability to work with detailed plan, financial, payroll, or participant data and reconcile discrepancies.
Intermediate Excel capability, including formulas, lookups, filters, sorting, conditional logic, and data validation, or the ability to demonstrate comparable analytical skills.
Ability to read and apply plan provisions, procedures, or other technical documentation.
Strong client service, written communication, problem-solving, organization, and follow-through.
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and deliver accurate work in a controlled environment.
Preferred skills and experience:
Direct experience administering NQDC plans, 409A plans, SERPs, excess or restoration plans, or executive retirement arrangements.
Experience with annual enrollment, deferral elections, distributions, vesting, participant statements, payroll files, or plan-level reconciliation.
Familiarity with Section 409A, COLI, rabbi trusts, nonqualified plan recordkeeping, or executive benefit funding concepts.
Experience supporting corporate clients or executive-level participants in a consultative service environment.

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field (or equivalent experience)
