The Lead Substation Project Engineer provides high-level technical assistance and guidance for multi-site utility-scale transmission and distribution projects. Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and possess 7 to 10 years of relevant experience in substation design. Proficiency in IEEE/ANSI standards and electrical design software like AutoCAD Electrical is required.
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Lead Substation Project Engineer for our Lakewood, CO office. Be involved in projects with our Power & Energy Substation Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients' objectives and solves their challenges. This position offers an on‑site, hybrid, or remote work arrangement, depending on candidate location, experience, and business needs.
Provides high‑level technical assistance and guidance for multi‑site and multi‑phase substation projects, including investigation, design, development, and construction of utility‑scale transmission and distribution infrastructure. Tasks include research, engineering design, concept development, planning, and execution of medium‑ to extra‑high‑voltage substations, including power distribution, protection and control systems, grounding, and equipment integration. Supports project execution, department initiatives, and client relationships while ensuring that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, and functionality.

Expected Salary (Colorado only): $115,200 - $195,800
