Full job description

About One Acre Fund

Founded in 2006, One Acre Fund equips 5.5 million smallholder farmers to make their farms more productive. Across nine countries that together are home to two-thirds of Africa's farmers, we provide high-quality farm supplies, tree seedlings, accessible credit, modern agronomic training, and a wide range of other agricultural services. On average, this model enables any farmer to increase their income and assets on supported land by more than 35 percent, while permanently improving their resilience. This is all made possible by our team of 9,000+ full-time staff, drawn from diverse backgrounds and professions. To learn more, please see our Why Work Here blog post.

About the Role

One Acre Fund relies on grant funding to support our operations, but also takes on debt to finance our working capital needs. This role is on the Investor Relations (IR) team, which manages our debt needs, identifies and grows relationships with lenders, and advises on capital structure and liquidity management. The graduate trainee will support the IR team across loan compliance and reporting, lender due diligence, team operations, and analytical projects.

The IR team is a team of 3 people, based in Kenya and the U.S. and part of the larger Finance Division. You will report to the Investor Relations Specialist.

This is a strong opportunity for someone interested in finance, impact investing, or accounting to gain hands-on experience working with global lenders and investors in a fast-paced social enterprise environment.

Responsibilities

  • Loan Reporting and Compliance: You will help prepare financial and operational reports for lenders, support internal reporting for senior leadership, and assist with interest payments and reconciliations.
  • Investor Relations Operations: You will maintain lender records and loan documentation, support the signing and closing of new loans, and help improve the systems and processes that support the Investor Relations team.
  • Lender Relationship Management and Due Diligence: You will support current and prospective lenders by coordinating due diligence requests, gathering information across teams, and preparing summaries, spreadsheets, and presentations.
  • Financial Analysis and Strategic Projects: You will support financial modeling, dashboards, research, and special projects that help the Finance and Investor Relations teams make decisions and communicate key insights.

Career Growth and Development

We have a strong culture of constant learning and we deeply invest in our people. You’ll have weekly check-ins with your manager, access to mentorship and training, and regular feedback on your performance. We’ll hold career reviews every one-three months, and set aside time to discuss your aspirations and career goals. You’ll have the opportunity to shape a growing organization and gain rewarding technical experience.

Qualifications

Across all roles, these are the general qualifications we look for. For this role specifically, you will have:

  • Knowledge: Good understanding of finance and accounting; some exposure to financial statement analysis preferred
  • Technical skills:
    • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
    • Strong knowledge of MS Excel (google sheets a plus). Experience with Financial Modeling in Excel and complex formulas (e.g: Index, Match, Lookups) preferred
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to consolidate information from multiple sources in a clear way
    • Top-performing undergraduate background
  • Soft skills:
    • Ability to work both independently and part of a team depending on the project
    • Ability to work with remote teams and colleagues
    • Combine strong leadership skills with good humor, patience, and a humble approach to service

Preferred Start Date

As soon as possible

Job Location

Nairobi, Kenya.

This role is expected to work primarily in-office during the first few months for onboarding and training.

Benefits

Interns will be provided with a reasonable stipend for the duration of their contract. Rural area based fellows will be provided assistance in locating suitable housing.

Eligibility

This role is only open to citizens or permanent residents of Kenya.

Application Deadline

19 July 2026. We hire on a rolling basis which means that applications are reviewed and processed on a continuous basis until a hire is made.

One Acre Fund never asks candidates to pay any money or pay for tests at any stage of the interview process. Official One Acre Fund emails will always arrive from an @oneacrefund.org address. Please report any suspicious communication here ([email protected]), but do not send applications or application materials to this email address.

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI), and anti-racism are deeply connected to our organization’s mission and purpose. One Acre Fund aspires to build a culture where all staff feel consistently valued, represented, and connected – so that our team can thrive as professionals, and achieve exceptional impact for the farmers we serve.
