Ventia are seeking experienced Wireless Technicians / Mobile Riggers to join our Telecommunications team supporting critical mobile network infrastructure across the whole of the South Island region but based in Christchurch. This is a hands-on field role focused on tower-based rigging, upgrades, and maintenance of mobile cell sites.
About the Role
This role will see you working at heights on mobile cell towers, delivering network upgrades, installations, and fault resolution. You’ll be part of a skilled team responsible for maintaining and evolving New Zealand’s telecommunications networks.
Key aspects of the role include:
Climbing and rigging on telco towers and poles
Installing, upgrading, and maintaining mobile cell tower infrastructure
Working on telecommunications equipment (Nokia, Ericsson, Huawei)
Performing connections and installations at height
Supporting tower upgrades, structural installs, and new builds
Conducting fault finding and maintenance activities
Using cranes, rigging gear, and mobile plant equipment safely
Interpreting basic RF diagrams and technical drawings
Working collaboratively in a team environment across various sites
About You
We are particularly interested in candidates with strong rigging and climbing experience within the telecommunications sector.
You’ll bring:
Proven experience in telecommunications rigging / mobile tower work
Confidence working at heights and climbing structures
Familiarity with Nokia, Ericsson, or Huawei equipment
Experience with cranes, rigging systems, and mobile plant
Strong fault-finding and problem-solving capability
Basic understanding of Radio Frequency (RF) concepts and diagrams
Solid mechanical aptitude and hands-on skills
A safety-first mindset and ability to work effectively in a team
Note: Fibre splicing experience is not required for this role.
