The World Bank’s Country Management Unit (CMU) for Ghana, Liberia and Sierra Leone (AWCW1) develops strategy and partnerships, oversees portfolio implementation, monitors impact, and evaluates results for the Bank’s portfolio in the three countries. The country unit includes offices in Accra, Monrovia, and Freetown. It oversees a portfolio of US$6.7 billion.
The AWCW1 CMU is managed by a Division Director (DD), assisted by an Operations Manager (OM), all based in the World Bank Office in Accra. The DD leads the World Bank’s dialogue with the Governments of Ghana, Liberia and Sierra Leona and the WB’s work program in those countries; the Operations Manager oversees the program’s quality and implementation. The Country Managers (CMs) for Liberia and Sierra Leone reside and represent the Bank Liberia and Sierra Leone where they lead the Bank dialogue with authorities, manage the day-to-day operations of the program. The Bank team is working closely with the IFC and MIGA.

Unit Context
The Ghana CMU is a dynamic unit that requires professional excellence and a commitment to teamwork. As a central member of the CMU’s Operations Team, the Operations Analyst will contribute to the CMU's core deliverables. S/he will report to the Operations Manager, will work under the guidance of the Senior operations officer, and collaborate closely operations team members in Liberia and Sierra Leone.
Duties and Responsibilities
The selected candidate will perform the following duties:
· • Provide analytical support to the Operations Manager and, where appropriate, to the Division Director.
· • Develop data and regularly produce the analytical tools needed for the SOO, OM, and DD to monitor-and supervise the Ghana Portfolio, improving its quality, effectiveness, and efficiency.
· • Gather operational data from operations teams in all three countries and compile these into a regularly produced monitoring tool for the management of the portfolio.
· • The OA will monitor and analyze IDA use, Disbursement trends, portfolio implementation and quality, and arising E&S and fiduciary issues.
· • Prepare briefing materials on country program, sector, and project issues and follow up on portfolio issues with teams.
· • Draft minutes of meetings chaired by the Operations Manager, as needed.
· • Assist with the preparation of high-level meetings and supports management team activities.
· • Research and draft briefing notes, speeches, Q&As, and presentations.
· • Provide analytical and research support to respond to requests from AFW DE on strategic and emerging issues to support decision-making.
· • Respond to queries related to queries from internal and external clients.
· • Prepare analysis and reporting for AWCW1 country strategic documents, memoranda of understanding.
· • Prepare reporting on WBG corporate initiatives and partnerships.
· • Analyze operational trends and coordinate with budget colleagues to support the CMU.
· • Provide country operational support to critical tasks as assigned by the Operations Manager.
· • Perform other ad hoc tasks and analyses to facilitate decision-making.
Selection Criteria
• Master’s degree in a relevant field such as economics, international development, public policy, or a related discipline.
· • Minimum of two years of relevant operational experience; experience in public policy, international development, and/or economics is an advantage.
· • Sound understanding of World Bank instruments, policies, and procedures, including safeguards, financial management, and procurement
· • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and collaborate with governments, financial institutions, international organizations, researchers, and other stakeholders.
· • Strong workflow management, task organization, and multitasking skills, with a clear drive for results.
· • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to work with complex data sets.
· • Ability to handle concurrent activities efficiently under pressure, work with minimal supervision, and meet tight deadlines.
· • Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and responsiveness in meeting deadlines and achieving agreed results.
· • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective relationships within and outside the Bank, including with senior-level contacts.
· • Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
· • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and WBG AI tools.
