The Draftsperson II prepares technical drawings, design details, and layouts for structural installations such as bridges, buildings, and tunnels. They are responsible for verifying field conditions, performing basic calculations, and coordinating with engineers and architects.
Requires a certification in Drafting or AutoCAD from an accredited technical school and three years of pertinent structural drafting experience. Candidates must pass a Structural Draftsperson test and be familiar with industrial and government codes.

We are seeking to hire candidate for our Draftsperson II (6523) Structural.

Starting Hourly Rate of Pay: $35.40 | Top Hourly Rate of Pay: $39.34 | Union Job Grade 15
Under the general supervision of the Program Manager, Bridges and Buildings and/or an assigned engineer/architect the Draftsperson II shall be responsible for the following: prepares drawings, technical design details, elevations, sections, schedules, and layouts. Prepares basic calculations, develops materials lists, and verifies field conditions including dimensions. Prepares basic cost estimates; coordinates work with other drafters, engineers & architects. The draftsperson shall be fluent in the use of the latest version of Autodesk Revit, and/or similiar BIM software and competent in the use of various office programs such as Microsoft Office to prepare spreadsheets, database input, develop basic memos, letters, and transmittals. Performs basic technical data gathering from the field, vendors, internet and technical manuals, along with additional assignments as directed.
Draftspersons, under the direct supervision of a specific discipline, shall be capable of working in all three engineering disciplines; architecture, structural, and mechanical. Each draftsperson shall also be capable of working independently in their discipline’s area of expertise; architectural, structural and mechanical engineering. Each draftsperson is expected to be competent in their discipline’s code specific knowledge and also have the ability to prepare basic calculations in an independent fashion.
