Responsibilities
Support people with disabilities in achieving employment goals through tailored discovery plans and capacity-building activities. Build relationships with local employers to create work experience and paid employment pathways for participants.
Requirements
Requires a Certificate IV in Disability, Community Services, or a related field, along with a valid driver's license and required safety checks. Candidates should possess strong communication skills and a commitment to social inclusion for people with disabilities.
We’re looking for a motivated and capable Employment Pathways Coach to support people with disability on their journey toward meaningful employment through genU’s Employment Pathways program.
In this hands-on role, you’ll deliver tailored supports that help participants build the skills and confidence they need for work. This includes assessing pre-employment and employment needs, supporting capacity building, preparing participants for work, assisting them to secure employment and helping them maintain it.
You’ll work directly with participants to deliver activities that form personalised ‘employment pathways’, supporting individuals one-on-one or within group settings.
This role suits someone who is organised, approachable and person-centred, with strong communication skills and a practical mindset. You take pride in empowering people with disability to build independence, confidence and job-ready skills.
Reporting to the relevant leader, you’ll play an important role in delivering innovative supports that promote social inclusion and strengthen employment outcomes, while aligning with genU’s values and strategic goals.
At genU, we’re a profit-for-purpose organisation, reinvesting our success back into programs to create real social impact. From disability and aged care support to community-focused initiatives, we’re here to help people live their best lives.
What you’ll do
As a Employment Pathways Coach, you'll:
Support people with disability to work towards their employment goals using genU’s customised employment model.
Develop, review and update individual discovery and employment plans alongside participants and key supports.
Deliver capacity-building activities that build job readiness, skills and confidence through individual and small group supports.
Provide mentoring, job coaching and support during volunteering, work experience and paid employment opportunities.
Build and maintain relationships with local employers to create work experience and employment pathways for participants.
Assist participants to access employment supports and services (e.g., DES, JobAccess, workplace modifications) and connect with other community supports where required.
Maintain accurate records and complete required administrative tasks while adhering to genU policies and legislative requirements.
What you’ll bring
Certificate IV in Disability, Community Services, Employment Services or a related field.
Strong commitment to inclusion and supporting people with disability to participate in the community.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders.
Strong time management, organisation and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Confident computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and database systems.
Ability to prepare clear written and verbal reports and maintain accurate records.
Current First Aid, Working with Children Check, and a current driver’s licence with access to a fully insured vehicle.
Bonus points if you have:
Experience working in disability or a related field.
Experience in the employment services sector.
Experience supporting people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
Understanding of the NDIS and/or DHHS environment.
Experience supporting individuals with challenging behaviours.
(You’ll also need an NDIS Worker Screening Check and Orientation Module Certificate – but don’t worry, we’ll help guide you through this.)
Why you’ll love working at genU
At genU, our differences make us stronger. We celebrate all kinds of diversity and the unique perspectives each of us brings. We’re committed to creating a welcoming, safe, and respectful space where everyone feels valued and can thrive.
You’ll also get

Discounts - savings at 450+ retailers including Coles, Woolworths & JB Hi-Fi
University Study Discount - Enjoy a 25% fee reduction for undergraduate and postgraduate courses at Torrens University.
