Perform and oversee inspections of mechanical and electrical equipment installations to ensure compliance with NEC, ASHRAE, and OEM standards. Lead junior inspectors and document findings through detailed reports and project coordination.

Job Summary: 

The QA/QC Field Inspector 2 is responsible for performing and overseeing inspections of mechanical and electrical equipment installations in industrial and commercial facilities. This role ensures installations comply with NEC, ASHRAE, OEM standards, and industry best practices. The position involves a combination of technical inspection duties, leadership of junior inspectors, documentation, and customer interaction.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Supervises and directs Level 1 and 2 QA/QC Inspectors.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Inspection and Oversight

  • Inspect equipment installation for conformance to design drawings, specifications, and code requirements.
  • Make pass/fail decisions on inspected systems and equipment.
  • Guide and oversee junior inspectors to ensure consistency and accuracy in inspections. 

Documentation and Communication

  • Write detailed reports documenting inspection findings.
  • Attend planning meetings to align QA/QC work with project goals.
  • Review drawings and develop inspection documents based on project needs.
  • Evaluate equipment submittals for conformance with design and standards.

Project Coordination and Support

  • Coordinate QA/QC efforts with other departments and managers.
  • Communicate project status and quality issues to internal teams and external clients.
  • Provide support to the commissioning team to ensure quality assurance measures are effectively implemented.

Additional responsibilities and tasks as required to support the organization's goals and adapt to evolving business needs.

Attributes/Abilities:

  • Must have a satisfactory background/MVR check.
  • Must pass a pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, and/or random drug test.
  • Must have reliable transportation and possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to lead and supervise QA/QC teams effectively.
  • Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems and the ability to read and interpret design drawings.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Professional demeanor with customers and internal teams. 

Experience and Education:         

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Certificate or diploma from a trade or technical school (electrical/mechanical).
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in QA/QC inspection in industrial or commercial settings. 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to travel up to 75% of the time.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to walk, stand, climb, pull, push, sit, and work in a cramped or confined space.
  • Potential low exposure to various conditions, including dirt, heat, fumes, smoke, water, noise, vibration, grease, oil, and dust.
  • Ability and willingness to work occasional overtime as needed.
