POSITION SUMMARY
The Electrical Field Inspector performs owner’s representative QA/QC observation of electrical construction scopes on utility-scale energy projects — including collection systems, terminations, and substation work. Working on behalf of the owner, the Electrical Field Inspector confirms that electrical work conforms to the approved drawings, specifications, manufacturer instructions, and quality plan.
This is a field-based role requiring strong knowledge of low-, medium-, and high-voltage installation practices and rigorous documentation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Electrical Installation Inspection
- Inspect trenches for depth and cleanliness and cable terminations for deficiencies against manufacturer instructions.
- Inspect overhead structure framing and setting, and electrical collection system installation.
- Verify conformance of electrical construction tasks to project drawings and specifications.
Substation & High-Voltage
- Inspect substation construction including ground grid and conduit installation.
- Observe HV breaker installation and termination, main power transformer installation, dress-out, and energization, and capacitor bank installation and termination.
- Support collection, transmission, and substation job book review and closeout/punch-list generation.
Documentation & Coordination
- Maintain accurate daily inspection and test-witness records in EPP/client systems.
- Record and drive resolution of non-conformances; verify corrective actions.
- Coordinate electrical quality activities and receipt inspections with the site Quality Manager.
Safety & Environmental
- Follow EPP and client electrical safety and site safety management systems.
- Adhere to the project environmental management plan and report concerns immediately.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- 2+ years of electrical construction field experience, or a degree in Electrical Engineering/Construction Management.
- Knowledge of MV/HV cable, terminations, collection systems, and substation construction.
- Ability to read electrical one-lines, drawings, and specifications.
- Ability to work independently in the field including extended hours; proficiency with Procore and Microsoft Office.
- Must have authorization to work permanently in the United States.
Preferred
- Utility-scale energy electrical experience; substation commissioning exposure.
- NETA/NICET or comparable electrical certification; OSHA 30.
- Familiarity with GIS systems.
WORK LOCATION & TRAVEL
This is a field-based position located at [assigned project site(s)], with [extensive travel — up to 100%] and rotational or extended-stay schedules common. This is a W-2, hourly role paid an hourly wage plus per diem for travel and field assignments.
