The Solid Waste Technologist provides technical and project support for environmental compliance, construction, and maintenance at solid waste facilities. Responsibilities include analyzing field data, producing compliance reports, and assisting with landfill operational planning.
Candidates must hold a 3-year community college diploma in a relevant technical field and possess at least 3 years of experience in solid waste management. A Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) designation and a valid Ontario G class driver's license are required.

The Compliance, Maintenance & Operational Planning unit is responsible for environmental compliance and construction/maintenance at the City’s solid waste facilities, and operational planning for solid waste collections. You provide technical and project support to the Solid Waste Compliance Branch through the investigation and resolution of technical problems by collecting, analyzing, compiling and interpreting field and survey data, producing technical and operational data and related reports for use in compliance reporting to assist in maintaining compliance with Ministry of the Environment, Conservation, and Parks (MECP) guidelines. You also support construction projects and assist with landfill sequence planning, compaction assessment, and other landfill related metrics.
Completion of 3 year community college diploma in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical or Environmental Technology
Minimum of 3 years of experience in the Solid Waste field including hydrogeology, computer modelling, mechanical processing of waste and heavy equipment uses
One year of supervisory experience
