Full job description
Team: Reablement (Adult Social Care)
Job Family: Supporting – CBG6
Salary: £26,824 - £28,142 per annum pro rata
Contract Type: Mobile - Permanent
Hours: 24 & 30 - hour contracts available, including weekend and bank holiday working.
Base location: Priory House, Shefford
Closing Date: 2nd August 2026 - we reserve the right to close the advert early should all roles be filled
Interview Date: Applications will be reviewed on receipt, interviews arranged as required.
About the role:
You may have children or wider family commitments and are looking to give something back to your local community. You might be thinking of retiring but are not quite ready to yet.
Our reablement service supports people to return to their homes following a stay in hospital when they might otherwise be unable to. As a Community Reablement Worker, you will work in partnership with people in their own homes to help them regain their independence in carrying out day to day tasks that they may now struggle with. Your commitment will help them regain their confidence and independence following a plan tailored to their specific individual needs to help them relearn skills that have been identified as important to their quality of life.
You might help them get up in the morning and make their first cup of tea of the day and then later support them to regain cooking skills or administering their medication. You’re not doing tasks for them; you’re helping them to do things for themselves once again.
You may be required to support people in our rehab step-up step-down units which operate with the Reablement ethos in mind.
Experience and qualifications are always desirable, but for this role your personal values and attitude are most important. Helping people will come naturally to you and you will find reward in supporting people to regain their independence.
You’ll have great communication skills, be flexible in your approach and be a great companion to those you work with. A driving licence and access to your own car is essential for the role, and all mileage can be claimed at a great rate per mile.
In return, we will offer you:
A rota that you can make plans around
A supportive and friendly management / team
Enhanced pay rates for bank holidays and weekends
iPad and iPhone
Personal alarm and torch
Uniform
Competitive mileage rate
Opportunity for support to gain professional qualifications in Health and Social Care plus Care certificate, moving & handling, medication, safeguarding, mental capacity, long-term conditions and more.
Various routes of progression to other areas within health and social care
