About the Department

The Anti-Financial Crime team sits within Risk & Compliance and provides second line oversight, advice and challenge across Aberdeen. For Aberdeen Adviser, the team helps a platform business serving UK financial advisers work within financial crime laws, regulations, policies and standards. By partnering with first line teams, the department protects clients, strengthens controls and helps enable our clients to be better investors.

About the Role

As Anti-Financial Crime Analyst in the Adviser business, you will support the AFC Adviser MLRO with second line advice, oversight and challenge. Based in Edinburgh, this Analyst role works closely with Aberdeen Adviser, first line teams, auditors and professional third parties to support compliance with legal, regulatory and policy requirements. You will contribute to senior management reporting, monitoring and testing, risk assessments and escalation of matters outside policy, standards or risk appetite. Key Responsibilities

• Provide AFC advice, guidance and challenge on new products, services, business activity and first line escalations.
• Support second line oversight of AFC systems and controls against relevant laws, regulations and guidance.
• Collate management information for senior management reporting and AFC legal and regulatory obligations.
• Review higher risk escalations, waiver or exception requests, and matters outside policy, standards or risk appetite.
• Execute AFC monitoring and testing, support AFC risk assessments and help track remediation activity.
• Assist with AFC queries from clients, regulators, counterparties, auditors and professional third parties.

About the Candidate

You will bring technical AFC knowledge, clear communication, balanced judgement and a collaborative style:

• Experience providing AFC advice, guidance or oversight within a regulated financial institution. (essential)
• Good knowledge of UK financial crime laws, rules, regulatory guidance and industry practice. (essential)
• Understanding of applying financial crime policies, standards and risk appetite in business activity. (essential)
• Knowledge of UK regulatory requirements, including Joint Money Laundering Steering Group guidance and the Money Laundering Regulations. (highly desirable)
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills with first line teams and senior stakeholders. (highly desirable)
• Relevant ICA Certificate or equivalent qualification. (desirable)
• Experience in an adviser or investment platform business, including platform risks and challenges. (desirable)
