ABOUT US

The Salvation Army is a Christian movement and one of Australia's largest and most-loved charities.  We believe in doing good that transforms lives and futures for the better.  It is this belief which drives us to find new ways and places where we can make a difference. From times of personal crisis to moments of national grief, we are always here — providing support, safety, community, and opportunity.

Maintenance Coordinator

Emergency Services, Malaga WA

Permanent full-time

Why this role matters

When disasters strike, communities rely on the strength and readiness of our emergency services. Behind every response is a team of people who make sure our vehicles start, our equipment works and our depot is ready to mobilise at a moment’s notice. This role is at the heart of that readiness.

As Maintenance Coordinator, you ensure our fleet, trailers, plant and equipment are safe, reliable and ready to support first responders and community members affected by fires, floods, storms and other emergencies. Your work directly enables our teams to show up with confidence, compassion and practical support when people need it most. This is a role where your organisation, care and attention to detail genuinely change lives.

About the role

The Maintenance Coordinator oversees the maintenance, servicing and operational readiness of all SAES plant, vehicles, trailers and equipment. You will work closely with contractors, mechanics and the TSA Property Department to ensure everything is compliant, safe and functioning at its best. You will also have access to pool vehicles when required for operational tasks.

You will support depot operations, coordinate volunteers for maintenance tasks and contribute to emergency response activities when needed. This role suits someone who enjoys hands on work, thrives in fast paced environments and takes pride in keeping things running smoothly for the benefit of others.

This permanent full-time position is within the SAES Response WA team, reporting to the SAES Response Coordinator. Pay is in accordance with a SCHADS Level 4.

How you will make an impact

  • Establish and maintain a servicing schedule for all plant, vehicles, trailers and equipment

  • Coordinate maintenance, repairs and replacements with contractors and suppliers

  • Liaise with the TSA Property Department regarding testing, tagging and facility related tasks

  • Maintain asset registers and ensure equipment is safe, compliant and operational

  • Conduct annual reviews of Safe Operating Procedures for plant and equipment

  • Provide training and instruction in the safe use of equipment and ensure manuals are current

  • Coordinate volunteers to support depot cleaning, repairs and maintenance tasks

  • Maintain accurate reporting including Noggin updates and incident documentation

  • Support WHS compliance by identifying hazards, reducing risks and reporting issues promptly

  • Assist with SAES response operations during emergencies including meal service delivery, site set up and pack down and coordination with catering teams

What you will bring

  • Experience in maintenance coordination or similar roles involving fleet, assets, facilities and hands on repair tasks

  • Experience operating mobile plant equipment

  • Demonstrated ability to work in fast paced operational environments

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

  • Ability to work collaboratively with volunteers, contractors and internal teams

  • Current WA driver’s licence

  • Heavy vehicle licence (MR or above)

  • Forklift licence

  • Senior First Aid Certificate

  • Professional presentation and reliability

What we offer

As a registered not for profit organisation, we offer eligible employee’s meaningful benefits, including:

  • Salary packaging benefits (up to $15,900 tax free) and Entertainment Benefit ($2,650 tax free)

  • Employee Assistance Program – confidential counselling service

  • Financial, retail and lifestyle discounts

  • Generous paid parental leave (12 weeks for primary carers)

  • Purchased leave options (up to 8 weeks)

  • Discounted health and fitness programs through Fitness Passport

  • Up to five days paid leave per year to support a Salvation Army program or activity

  • A supportive, inclusive culture with passionate and dedicated team members

  • A deeply rewarding role where you can positively influence people’s wellbeing

How to apply

Please submit your resume and a cover letter addressing the key requirements of the role.

Applications will close as soon as a suitable candidate is secured.
