Oversees all phases of mechanical construction to ensure compliance with the Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code and City of Reading Ordinances. Responsibilities include reviewing HVAC permit documents, performing field inspections, and issuing notices of violation.
Requires a high school diploma and current ICC/PA UCC certifications for Commercial Mechanical Inspector and Plans Examiner. Candidates must possess a Master Mechanical or Master Plumber license with at least 10 years of experience.
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is vital to the success of the Community Development Department and the Building and Trades Division. The Mechanical Inspector/Plans Examiner oversees every phase of construction from planning to completion to ensure compliance with the Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code and City of Reading Ordinances. The Mechanical Inspector/Plans Examiner has direct contact with both external and internal customers. The inspector must be able to interpret, explain, and implement as well as adapt to any changes made to the Codes and Ordinances.
