Scope of Work
Accountable for the management of the location’s profitability and long-range growth while meeting overall corporate objectives. Provides leadership and direction for the location. Travel required.
Interacts with and builds teamwork with all location support staff and departments. Schedules, participatesin and/or conducts project meetings. Interact with owners, owner representatives, architects, engineers, trade contractors, vendors and others who are associated with project related activities. Also serves on various committees and participates in special trade-related activities and events.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the attainment of location performance goals and the formulation of short and long-range objectives to support the Company’s strategic plan. Responsible for leading and overseeing multiple projects consisting of on-site supervision of general superintendent, field supervisors, lead persons crew leaders, journeypersons, apprentices and/or helpers. Responsible for lay out of project work and ensuring that materials, tools, equipment and information are scheduled timely to meet scope and construction schedules. Interacts with Project Manager(s), General Superintendent, and Human Resources Department. Responsible for reviewing project documents; plans and specifications; directing construction activities; resolving construction obstacles; coordinating field installations and project closings; and developing and maintaining client relationships, all within project cost, time and quality standards while adhering to standard operating procedures.

Develops, maintains and implements plans supporting the Company’s strategic goals.
Establishes annual budget guidelines for the location.
Develops annual plans including operating budgets, staffing plans, marketing plans, and capital expenditures.
Identifies future and strategic market opportunities.
Oversees development and implementation of training programs related to construction, safety, estimating, human resource management, quality control, loss prevention, project management, and related business management topics.
Guides and assists employees in identifying, analyzing and resolving existing or anticipated obstacles in a manner to meet project schedules.
Manages the selection, development and retention of location staff through clear expectations, motivation and cooperation.
Resolves operational problems with the location and alerts the Executive Vice President to problems of significance to the Company.
Organizes and prioritizes workload to meet deadlines.
Works with Project Manager/General Superintendent in personnel alignment and scheduling to facilitate weekly action plans.
Ensures timely billing, approval of invoices, regular review of job cost, reports, project history and purchase order history.
Informs, clarifies and confers weekly project progress with COO.
Leads, motivates, coaches and develops assigned employees technical methods by giving accurate and non-bias job performance appraisals.
Ensures the Gaylor Project Management Initiative [PMI] and Gaylor Supervisors Management Initiative [SMI] are adhered to.
Cultivates working relationships with project managers, supervisors, fellow workers and customers that encourage a cooperative environment.
Makes routine inspections of projects to verify project scope and specifications, company standards, and compliance are within local and National Electric Code.
Accurately documents project work situations in a timely manner, both written and verbal, to ensure protection of Company through proper documentation (i.e.possible liens and or claims).
Ability to modify behavior style and management to effectively manage tasks requiring change in work plans or schedule.
Participates actively in the improvement process of the location and Company.
Ensures that all Company policies are communicated clearly and implemented.
Schedules, maintains and coordinates accordingly, calendar of appointments, meetings and travel itineraries.
Maintains appropriate records, files, documentation, etc.
Set by example acceptable work practices that will be emulated by fellow employees.
Report accidents or incidents to the Risk Management Director and Safety Manager in a timely manner as outlined per Company policy manual.
Conducts project closings meetings for “lessons learned.”
Cultivates new business relationships and maintains existing relationships with clients through monthly public relations activities, and membership in professional trade-related organizations.
Utilizes Company computerized estimating programs for change orders and estimates
Updates job skills by participating in offered training sponsored by the company.
Maintains confidentiality of all information.
Working Conditions
May require working in all elements (heat, cold, rain, snow, etc.) depending on job location and/or time of year
Must be able to utilize construction site sanitary facilities (port-o-lets)
Must have required hand tools at all times while at work site (waist tool belts can weigh up to 30 lbs.)
Must be able to work scheduled hours as well as overtime, as required, on short notice
Must be able to work in noisy environments
Must be able to remain calm in times of heightened emotional situations
Must work well with others as a member of a team to complete tasks
Physical Requirements
Must be able to wear personnel protective equipment (i.e., hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, high visibility vest, safety harness, etc.) when required
Ability to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead
Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers
Possess good vision/hearing (normal or corrected)
Ability to make transition from designated employee parking areas to construction areas and be able to gain access to all levels of building/structure, even if only means of access is by OSHA approved site construction ladder or stairs still under construction but deemed safe for use
Ability to work while constantly moving on one's feet
Ability to reach and stretch to position equipment and fixtures while maintaining balance
Ability to work while sitting or standing for long periods
Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times
License Requirement:Only in states where required.
Education:Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Degree (or related degree) or equivalent studies/experience.
