At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!

As a member of the Blue Origin family of companies, Honeybee Robotics has been at the forefront of robotics for over 40 years. Our Colorado location specializes in creating advanced motion control solutions for NASA, defense, and commercial programs. Our work has played a critical role in thousands of projects, spanning from conceptual design studies to flight missions, including NASA's Artemis I Mission and the Roman Space Telescope. We are seeking technically brilliant individuals who are passionate about their work, thrive in collaborative environments, and have a laser focus on the details that drive excellence.

About Blue Origin

Blue Origin is a spaceflight and exploration company founded on the belief that humanity's future depends on our ability to live and work in space. We are working to lower the cost of access to space through reusable launch vehicles and in-space systems, enabling a future where millions of people live and work in space. We value curiosity, passion, integrity, and a relentless drive to achieve our mission. Blue Origin is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

About This Role

As a member of the Blue Origin family of companies, Honeybee Robotics has been at the forefront of robotics for over 40 years. Our Colorado-based Motion Control Business Unit designs, manufactures, and tests high-performance motion control components and integrated solutions — from actuators and gearboxes to motors and precision control systems — in support of NASA, defense, and commercial programs including NASA's Artemis I Mission and the Roman Space Telescope.

We are seeking a motivated Manufacturing Engineer II with a strong focus on electromechanical assemblies. In this role, you will translate engineering drawings and design intent into fully functional hardware ready for test, qualification, and flight. You will work directly alongside technicians on the production floor, developing process documentation, supporting new product introduction, and driving continuous improvement in a fast-paced aerospace manufacturing environment. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and requires dedicated commitment, close attention to detail, and a passion for safe and repeatable spaceflight.

Special Mentions:

  • Relocation assistance provided
  • Travel expected up to 5%
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday (5/8)
  • Interviews will include a technical assessment

Responsibilities

  • Translate engineering drawings and design intent into manufacturing bills of materials (MBOMs) and detailed work instructions for electromechanical assemblies
  • Provide dedicated production floor support, working directly with technicians to resolve production issues in real time
  • Support new product introduction by developing build plans, duration estimates, index plans, and tool lists
  • Identify tools and equipment required for flight hardware manufacturing and ensure technicians are properly resourced
  • Generate, manage, and drive closure of non-conformance reports (NCRs); lead root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action (RC/CA) development
  • Drive the transition from development to production, proactively troubleshooting and resolving assembly issues
  • Develop and maintain work instructions for electromechanical assemblies requiring precision alignment of mechanical components, fastener torquing, component bonding/ staking, and cable harnessing operations including wire preparation, crimping, connector termination, soldering, shielding, and back shell installation
  • Support the design and development of specialty fixtures to aid in manufacturing processes
  • Provide DFM/DFMA feedback on mechanical and harness assembly designs; engage with design teams early to improve manufacturability prior to design release
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, efficiency, and productivity

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Aerospace Engineering
  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing or process engineering in an aerospace, defense, launch vehicle, or high-precision manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated experience developing work instructions and process documentation for mechanical and/or harness assembly operations
  • Familiarity with harness assembly processes including crimping, connector termination, soldering, shielding, and back shell assembly
  • Working knowledge of applicable standards such as IPC/WHMA-A-620, J-STD-001, NASA-STD-8739.1, and NASA-STD-8739.4
  • Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals including GD&T per ASME Y14.5
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks or CREO/Pro-E preferred)
  • Strong written, verbal, and technical communication skills; proficiency in standard tools including CAD, issue tracking systems, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum, as required by applicable export control regulations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience building or testing flight hardware in an aerospace or defense environment
  • Experience with design, development, or production of launch vehicles, spacecraft, or satellites
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks or Creo
  • Familiarity with aerospace quality management systems such as AS9100 and NADCAP
  • Experience with ERP/MES platforms for traveler and nonconformance management
  • Lean Six Sigma awareness or certification (Yellow Belt or higher)
  • Customer-focused with a proven track record of working cooperatively across cross-functional team
