Full job description
Do you want to work on real 3D machine learning and build practical solutions together with a team of point cloud experts?
At Advian, we’re looking for a hands-on Machine Learning Engineer to work on practical ML and point cloud analysis projects.
You may still be relatively early in your engineering career, but already have hands-on experience, the ability to work independently, and the motivation to grow into a strong 3D ML expert.
In this role, you’ll work closely with customers, domain experts, and other developers — and see how your solutions perform in practice.
ADVIAN
Advian turns data into real value by tackling tough challenges with expertise and methods you won’t find elsewhere. Our core strengths are Edge AI, GeoAI, and the intelligent use of data. We work across industries with technically demanding and innovative projects, often solving problems where standardsolutions don’t exist. Our flat and self-directed organizational culture gives you the autonomy to drive impact while benefiting from support among highly skilled colleagues.
THE ROLE
As a Machine Learning Engineer, you work on machine learning and point cloud analysis projects from early-stage prototyping toward practical real-world solutions. Projects involve LiDAR, point cloud data, and 3D machine learning.
You work as part of the point cloud team, working hands-on on the development and prototyping of 3D ML algorithms. The focus is on solving real customer problems with practical and efficient approaches.
Your daily responsibilities include:
- Developing ML methods for LiDAR and point cloud data - Working with 3D ML tasks such as classification, segmentation, and object detection - Processing and analyzing point cloud datasets - Collaborating with customers and other team members
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We would fit each other perfectly if you have:
- Machine learning skills (such as classification, segmentation, and object detection), including model training and evaluation - Experience working with 3D point cloud data - Proficient programming (Python) and data processing skills - Version control experience (Git) - Finnish and English skills (both at a professional working level)
It is considered a plus if you have:
- Understanding of computer vision methods - Understanding of geospatial data / georeferenced point clouds - Experience with solutions taken into production - Experience working with infrastructure domain
WHY ADVIAN
At Advian, you get hands-on responsibility early, while still having support from highly skilled colleagues around you. Our low-hierarchy and self-directed culture gives you the freedom to experiment, learn, and grow as an expert.

Advian builds advanced data and technology solutions for industries where operational reliability directly affects the bottom line.
We founded Advian in 2019 because we believed the way technology was being sold to industry was broken: overpromised, underdelivered, wrapped in jargon and billed by the hour. That founding conviction shapes everything about how we work.
We specialise in two industries where the cost of poor decisions is real and the data to make better ones already exists. In manufacturing, we build quality inspection systems, production optimization solutions and machine vision applications that improve OEE, reduce waste and drive factories toward their true production potential. In energy and district heating, we build forecasting models, leak analytics and network optimisation solutions that reduce losses, improve planning and support more sustainable operations.
Before we build anything, we establish whether it is worth building. We start from concrete business targets, work with existing equipment and infrastructure, and scale from a focused starting point to full operational visibility.
Our team of 45+ specialists brings an average of 15 years of industry experience in Edge AI, GeoAI, machine vision, IoT and data engineering. We operate from our headquarters in Otaniemi, Espoo, with a growing international presence.
We don't consult. We deliver.
