The department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at MUSC has an opening for a motivated and collegial Research Assistant in the laboratory of Dr. Noel Warfel. The lab focuses on understanding how hypoxia alters cancer cell migration and resistance to therapy. The lab is also invested in drug development and testing in prostate cancer and other solid tumors.

Job Description
To conduct laboratory research with involving basic biochemistry and molecular biology, as well as maintaining lab reagent and supply inventories
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:A bachelor's degree in biomedical sciences or a related field and laboratory research experience.
Additional Knowledge, skill, ability preferred:
Required to have bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences or related Majors. Preference will be given to candidates with a background in cancer biology.
Guideline and Supervision:
Must be able to work with little or no supervision.
Job Duties:
30% - Performs mammalian tissue culture
Grows, maintains, expands, and treats mammalian cell lines
Develops, evaluates and implements new or modified culture procedures
Improves laboratory methods of primary tissue culture
35% - Laboratory research
Lead a research project with the support of PI and lab staff
Prepares daily records of experimental procedures and results
Assist with manuscript preparation
