Full job description
Job Description
The Creative Play Lab is the innovation engine within the LEGO Group, imagining radically new ways to play with the LEGO brick and pioneering the future of play. As a centre of experimentation and forward-thinking product development, the Lab operates at the intersection of creativity, technology and play — translating bold ideas into tangible innovations that delight children and families around the world.
The Senior Programme Manager sits at the heart of this mission, responsible for leading and orchestrating the end-to-end delivery of complex, single and multi-year technology enablement programmes that support the Lab's innovation agenda. Working closely with the CLAb Leadership Team and cross-functional teams across product, engineering, mission capabilities and operations, this role ensures that new technologies and tools - including AI initiatives - are successfully adopted into workflows and ways of working, driving measurable improvements in how the Creative Play Lab operates and innovates. Responsibilities
Leads end-to-end delivery of single and multi-year technology enablement programmes within the Creative Play Lab (the Lab), spanning product innovation and internal workflow improvement, ensuring plans are executed on time, within scope, and to quality standards (e.g. AI upskilling and tooling programmes).
Operationalises technology programme objectives set by senior leadership into structured delivery plans with clear roadmaps, milestones, resource plans and risk registers, tracking progress and providing regular visibility to the Lab’s Leadership Team (CPL LT) on programme health.
Drives technology and tooling adoption across the Lab through structured implementation and change management plans, including communications, training and capability building activities, to embed new ways of working into everyday workflows and innovation processes.
Acts as the primary day-to-day interface between technical teams and business stakeholders across the Lab, collaborating with product, engineering, mission capabilites and operations to align programme objectives, manage dependencies and facilitate decision-making across competing priorities, escalating where appropriate.
Operates within and actively maintains programme governance structures, reporting cadences and decision forums, proactively identifying, escalating and mitigating risks related to technology, compliance, and quality standards in line with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Manages relationships with external vendors, technology partners and consultancies, ensuring delivery quality, cost control and alignment with internal programme standards and objectives.
Defines, tracks and reports on programme success metrics (e.g. adoption rates, operational efficiencies, innovation speed), surfacing insights and recommending adjustments to programme delivery to the CPL LT for review and direction.
Mentors and supports more junior project team members in programme management practices, fostering a collaborative team culture and contributing to capability building within the Creative Play Lab area.
Requirements
Significant programme or project management experience, with a proven track record of delivering complex, multi-year technology enablement, digital transformation or innovation-driven programmes in cross-functional environments.
Demonstrated ability to operationalise strategic objectives into structured delivery plans, translating technical concepts and capabilities into tangible business value for non-technical stakeholders.
Familiarity with AI, machine learning or emerging technology concepts and their practical business applications; experience delivering AI or technology adoption programmes is a strong advantage. Experience working at the intersection of technology and consumer products - particularly hardware, toys or physical goods - is highly desirable.
Proven change management and adoption experience, including the design and delivery of upskilling, communications and capability building initiatives to embed new tools and ways of working across an organisation.
Strong vendor and partner management experience, including oversight of external technology consultancies or delivery partners, with demonstrable budget and cost control accountability.
Proficiency in Agile, Scrum or hybrid delivery frameworks; formal programme or project management certification (e.g. PMP, PRINCE2, MSP or equivalent) is required.
Exceptional resilience and composure — demonstrates the ability to maintain momentum and lead teams through ambiguity, shifting priorities and organisational complexity, recovering quickly from setbacks without losing focus on delivery outcomes.
This role is based in Billund, Denmark, but will be working day-to-day with Lab colleagues in London, Singapore and Boston Hubs, primarily online, and may require periodic travel to LEGO Group sites and external partner locations. Under 'best of both' rules the candidate is expected to be work a minimum of 3 days a week in the office.
Nice to have
Previous experience working within an R&D, innovation lab, creative agency or product development environment, particularly within a consumer products, toys, gaming or entertainment business.
Hands-on exposure to AI, machine learning or emerging technology tooling platforms (e.g. Microsoft Copilot, OpenAI, Google Gemini, Adobe Firefly, Vertex AI or similar), with an appreciation of how these tools can be practically applied to improve business workflows and product development processes.
Strong strategic awareness combined with pragmatic execution instincts — able to understand and operationalise the long-term technology vision set by senior leadership, connecting it to incremental, feasible delivery steps whilst balancing innovation with practical and safety considerations.
Consumer and product sensibility — an appreciation of the unique requirements of physical and consumer-facing products, and how technology enablement can meaningfully enhance product experiences whilst respecting safety, quality and brand standards.
Excellent communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences, with the ability to create clarity and alignment through structured updates, data-driven storytelling and well-crafted written and verbal communication.
