Full job description
Project Overview
This role supports one of New Zealand’s most significant and technically complex vertical infrastructure developments. The project is a large-scale, secure operational facility being delivered through a Public Private Partnership (PPP) and joint venture model, bringing together some of the country’s most experienced construction, engineering and service delivery organisations.
Designed to operate around the clock once complete, the facility incorporates high-security environments, complex building systems, and long-term asset management requirements. The project environment is fast-paced, highly collaborative and governance-led, with strong interface management across public and private sector stakeholders.
About the Opportunity
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Procurement Expert to support the delivery of this nationally significant infrastructure project.
This role is critical in executing procurement activities across goods and services, ensuring value-driven outcomes through effective sourcing, tender management, and supplier engagement. You will work closely with procurement leadership and project stakeholders to support delivery, manage risk, and maintain strong commercial discipline.
Supply Chain Manager
Reporting to the Procurement Subcontracts Manager, the Procurement Expert is responsible for the end-to-end procurement of assigned packages, supporting sourcing strategies and ensuring compliance with project requirements and governance frameworks.
You will play a key role in managing procurement workflows, evaluating supplier submissions, and maintaining strong supplier relationships while ensuring timely and accurate delivery outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Manage procurement of assigned goods and service packages
Conduct market research and supplier engagement to support sourcing strategies
Prepare and issue RFQ/RFP documentation
Evaluate technical and commercial submissions and provide recommendations
Support negotiation of commercial terms and supplier agreements
Raise purchase orders and manage procurement documentation
Maintain and update procurement schedules and track progress
Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders
Monitor procurement spend against budget and ensure approvals are obtained
Expedite supplier deliveries and resolve supply issues as required
Ensure compliance with procurement processes, policies, and governance frameworks
Support the Procurement Manager in delivering value, risk reduction, and quality outcomes
About You
You are a proactive procurement professional with strong organisational skills and a collaborative approach to delivering outcomes in a complex project environment.
You bring:
Experience in procurement within construction, engineering, or infrastructure projects
Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess supplier submissions
Confidence working with suppliers and supporting negotiations
Ability to manage competing priorities with attention to detail
A structured, process-driven approach with a focus on delivering on time
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
Relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering, Procurement, or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
Minimum 8+ years’ experience in procurement within construction or infrastructure projects
Experience in end-to-end procurement processes
Familiarity with procurement systems (e.g. SAP) and reporting tools
Strong understanding of construction materials and supplier markets
Solid negotiation, problem-solving, and organisational skills
Strong communication skills and attention to detail
What We Offer

We offer:
The opportunity to be embedded in a large‑scale, high‑profile project from early stages through delivery
Exposure to both local best practice and world‑class global systems and processes, providing invaluable professional development
A collaborative, inclusive project team environment that values expertise, partnership, and shared success
Strong leadership, structure, and support within a well‑resourced organisation
Competitive remuneration aligned to skills and experience
