This role is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising strategy that moves the organization toward a relationship-based model of philanthropy, with a particular focus on individual giving, major gifts, grants, and long-term donor partnerships. A key objective of this role is to double philanthropic revenue over the next five years, positioning the clinic for expanded impact and long-term sustainability.
In addition to fundraising leadership, this role will guide the clinic's external communications with donors and stakeholders, ensuring that the clinic's impact is conveyed through compelling storytelling and thoughtful impact reporting.
Working closely with the Chief Executive Officer, the Board of Trustees, and in a collaborative partnership with the Board's Development Committee, the Vice President will help position the People's Health Clinic for sustained philanthropic growth and deeper engagement with the community it serves.
This role represents an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of philanthropy at the People's Health Clinic. By strengthening donor relationships, building a sustainable development infrastructure, and elevating the clinic's story and impact in the community, the Vice President will play a critical role in ensuring that the clinic can continue providing essential healthcare services to those who need them most.
Responsibilities
The Vice President of Development and External Relations will
serve as a strategic partner to the Chief Executive Officer and the Board of Trustees in advancing the clinic's fundraising and external engagement efforts;
develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy that supports the clinic's mission and long-term sustainability;
establish and execute a long-term revenue growth plan designed to double philanthropic funding over the next five years;
lead the development of a diversified revenue strategy that includes individual giving, major gifts, grants, and institutional partnerships;
manage a portfolio of 50–75 major gift prospects and donors and maintain a consistent schedule of donor meetings and relationship-building activities;
develop and implement a moves management system that ensures consistent, personalized, and strategic donor cultivation across all stages of the donor lifecycle;
equip board members with clear strategies and tools to introduce new donors to the clinic and strengthen existing donor relationships;
ensure events are designed primarily as opportunities to introduce new supporters, strengthen relationships, and inspire philanthropic investment;
develop narratives that help donors, community leaders, and partners understand the critical role the clinic plays in ensuring access to healthcare for underserved members of the Park City community;
oversee brand consistency across all external communications to ensure the clinic's voice, values, and mission are reflected clearly and cohesively;
develop a storytelling library that captures patient stories, program milestones, and community impact data to support year-round donor communications;
build relationships with local media, community organizations, and civic partners to elevate the clinic's visibility and strengthen community trust;
strengthen development operations to ensure the clinic's fundraising program is organized, strategic, and data-driven;
conduct regular landscape analyses to identify trends in healthcare philanthropy and adapt strategies to ensure the clinic remains competitive and compelling to donors;
build a business case for the future development team and infrastructure, outlining staffing, systems, and operational investments needed to support long term revenue growth; and
serve as an internal champion for a culture of philanthropy, helping staff across departments understand their role in donor engagement and mission storytelling.
Qualifications

a commitment to the mission of the People's Health Clinic – to provide free, high-quality healthcare to uninsured individuals and families in Summit and Wasatch Counties;

demonstrated success cultivating and securing major gifts and building long-term donor relationships;
experience working closely with executive leadership and Board of Trustees in advancing fundraising efforts;
excellent organizational and operational skills, including experience with donor databases and development reporting systems;
expertise in strategic storytelling and mission-driven communications, including the ability to translate complex healthcare and community impact into compelling narratives for donors and stakeholders;
experience developing impact reports and donor-facing communications that highlight measurable outcomes, community impact, and the return on philanthropic investment;
experience securing grants from foundations, corporations, and/or government funders;
