The Medical Assistant II works under the delegation of a licensed practitioner to provide direct patient care in a clinical setting. They are responsible for performing clinical functions, maintaining established policies and procedures, and assisting with various patient-focused duties.
Candidates must have completed an accredited medical assistant program, apprenticeship, or have at least one year of relevant work experience. Additionally, applicants must hold or obtain Washington Medical Assistant Certification and BLS certification.
POSITION SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Preferred: Training in performing of Mohs horizontal and vertical frozen section processing of tissue specimens.
Preferred: 1 year Mohs Technician experience cutting frozen sections in a Mohs lab under the supervision of a Mohs Surgeon.
EDUCATION
Preferred: Associate's Degree in Laboratory science with successful completion of Histotech training program Or equivalent educ/experience.
Preferred: Coursework/Training Successful completion of certified medical assistant or surgical technician training program.
Preferred: Completion of a Department of Health approved accredited histotechnician or related training program a plus but not required for this position to start.
Required within 1 year of hire: histotechnician (HT) or histotechnologist (HTL) certification granted by the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC).
