The Senior Engineer manages the design review process for major capital projects to ensure compliance with Amtrak standards and policies. They coordinate multi-discipline technical reviews and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to monitor project schedules and resources.
Candidates must have a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, along with at least 6 years of relevant professional experience. Proficiency in project management, railroad design standards, and construction delivery methods is required.

The Design Review Senior Engineer is responsible for managing the design review process for major capital in-house projects, as well as external third-party projects, to ensure that the project design documents are in compliance with all Amtrak Corporate and Engineering Department standards, policies, and procedures. The Design Review Senior Engineer is part of the overall Design Management Team, with focus in Major Stations (which currently include Philadelphia, New York, Washington, Chicago, Baltimore, and Newark), and/or Amtrak main facilities (which currently include Philadelphia, Boston, Seattle, Washington, and New York) to accommodate and support new Airo train fleet equipment and maintenance-of-way fleet equipment. The Design Management Team is part of the Planning and Engineering Support group under Capital Delivery.

The salary/hourly range is $103,700.00 – $134,460.00. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
