Full job description
Job Description
Reporting to the Senior Supply Chain Specialist, the Supply Chain Engineer will support the development, delivery and improvement of Mitsubishi Power’s regional supply chain across EMEA. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent Mechanical Engineering graduate, or an early-career engineer, who wants to build a specialist career in technical supply chain, supplier development and engineering services.
The role is not designed for someone who already has extensive supply chain experience. Instead, we are looking for someone with a strong mechanical engineering foundation, the ability to understand technical drawings and specifications, and the curiosity to learn how engineering, procurement, suppliers, quality and logistics work together to support major gas turbine, steam turbine and power generation service projects.
You will receive support and training to develop into a skilled Supply Chain Engineer, helping Mitsubishi Power EMEA source, develop and improve the supply of components, parts, consumables, tooling and spares across the region.
What will you do in the role?
Support the development of the regional supply chain for engineering components, including parts, consumables, tooling and other spares.
Review technical drawings, specifications and component information to help identify suitable supply chain and procurement routes.
Work closely with Engineering, Repairs and Procurement teams to assess whether parts and components can be sourced locally or directly within the EMEA region.
Develop your understanding of gas turbines, steam turbines and associated components, including materials, manufacturing methods and technical requirements.
Help identify opportunities to reduce cost, improve lead times and strengthen supplier capability, while maintaining Mitsubishi Power’s quality standards.
Support the resolution of supply chain issues from initial request through to delivery to site.
Liaise with Engineering, Procurement, Quality, Inventory and Logistics, suppliers and Programme Management teams to help resolve technical and supply chain challenges.
Build relationships with regional and global engineering and procurement colleagues, including teams based in Leeds, London and across the wider EMEA region.
Support supplier and component development activities by gathering technical information, reviewing requirements and helping coordinate actions across internal teams.
Prepare updates, reports and progress summaries for Supply Chain and Procurement management.
Develop broader commercial and project awareness by working with departments such as Engineering, Programme Management, Procurement and Commercial.
Qualifications
What are we looking for?
We are looking for a recent graduate or early-career engineer who is keen to develop into a technical supply chain role. You do not need to have a background in supply chain or procurement, but you should have a genuine interest in how engineered components are sourced, manufactured, assessed and delivered.
You should be able to demonstrate:
A degree or relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a closely related discipline.
A good understanding of mechanical engineering principles.
The ability to read and interpret technical and engineering drawings.
An interest in materials, components, manufacturing methods and how engineering requirements are translated into supplier capability.
A willingness to learn about gas turbines, steam turbines and power generation service technology.
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to review information carefully and draw practical conclusions.
Good written communication skills, including the ability to produce clear technical updates and reports.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Strong verbal communication skills, with the confidence to liaise with colleagues across Engineering, Procurement, Quality, Logistics and Programme Management.
A professional, diplomatic and collaborative approach.
A self-driven mindset, with the ability to work independently while asking the right questions and learning from experienced colleagues.
