Overview
Being good neighbors – helping people, investing in our communities, and making the world a better place – is who we are at State Farm. It is at the core of how we operate and the reason for our success. We're moving with urgency to become a Next Gen Good Neighbor, with technology that strengthens human connections and enhances the customer experience. As an employee, you'll spend less time navigating systems and more time applying judgment, empathy, and expertise in the moments that matter most.
Responsibilities
The IEOM NaaS Engineering team works across a large breadth of technologies allowing a unique learning opportunity amongst the team. IEOM Engineering teams have the freedom to focus on hands-on prototyping, research efforts, and Proof of Concepts (POCs) without day-to-day support obligations. IEOM Engineering teams are responsible for collaborating with ET product teams to understand and evaluate technical requirements that may result in infrastructure offering modifications. IEOM Engineering teams will work closely with the IEOM Service Delivery teams and a Managed Service Provider (MSP) to evaluate and validate proposed technical solutions and changes.
IEOM Engineering teams will work closely with IEOM Area Level Architecture to identify areas of improvement, changes to architectural standards, and future state capability strategies. Additionally, IEOM Engineering teams work with the Project Support Office (PSO) as technical resources in validation of project estimates and requirements or as technical resources on defined projects.
This position is focused on Network Engineering – specifically Data Center LAN, Data Center WAN, Load Balancing, and DNS. There are several opportunities within the team to expand knowledge to other network specialties and influence future designs.
As a member of the IEOM NaaS Engineering team, you will be challenged and empowered to grow professionally. We appreciate your interest in this role.
Qualifications
Ability to be a result driven self-starter who enjoys researching, hands on proof-of-concept work, and learning new tools.
Ability to identify and develop new technical solutions with guidance
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure issues.
Effective collaboration skills and communication skills to work across team(s), document research/POC findings/architectural decisions, and showcase work
Knowledge of security principles and governance/risk processes
Ability to work with vendors and establish professional relationships
Ability to represent State Farm at various conferences and council meetings.
Preferred Skills:
Ability to foster innovation, encourage diversity of thought, and incorporate new ideas.
Proficiencies in Data Center LAN, F5 load balancing, DNS, or Data Center WAN.
Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools to ensure system performance and availability.
Certifications in network technologies or infrastructure-related certifications.
