You will assist with the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of high-voltage electrical infrastructure and substations. You will also participate in fault finding, testing, and commissioning activities under the guidance of qualified tradespeople.
Candidates must hold a driver's licence and have completed at least Year 10, with Year 12 and passing marks in Maths and English preferred. You must be comfortable working outdoors in technical environments and committed to high-risk safety standards.
The Opportunity
Downer’s Energy & Utilities team is seeking applications for an Electrical Apprenticeship opportunity. This is an exciting opportunity to launch your career in the power and utilities industry while gaining hands-on experience working on critical high-voltage electrical infrastructure.
Under the guidance of qualified tradespeople and experienced technicians, you’ll assist with the construction, installation, maintenance, testing, and repair of substations and associated equipment. As part of your structured apprenticeship, you’ll gain exposure to transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, protection systems, and commissioning activities, while developing valuable skills in fault finding, interpreting electrical drawings, using testing equipment, and working safely within live electrical environments. Through a combination of formal training and on-the-job learning, you’ll build the technical knowledge and practical experience required for a rewarding career in the electrical industry
