Hawai’i Health & Harm Reduction Center (HHHRC) provides harm reduction-focused services to marginalized populations in Hawai’i, including people living with and/or affected by HIV, hepatitis, substance use, homelessness, and the transgender, LGBQ, and the Native Hawaiian communities. HHHRC bridges gaps and helps individuals access essential resources such as housing, health care, entitlements, and treatment. We foster health, wellness, and systemic change in Hawai’i and the Pacific through outreach, care services, advocacy, training, prevention, education, and capacity building.
Primary Purpose:
The Training Specialist is responsible for conducting and/or coordinating all aspects of training both internally within the agency and for participants of the HHHRC Training Institute. The Training Specialist will have two primary trainings to conduct for external partners: Overdose Prevention and Response and HIV/STI/Viral Hepatitis overview for HHHRC ‘s HIV Early Intervention Services (HEIS) program education and training. The Training Specialist will implement other trainings as part of the HHHRC training institute such as Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-informed Care, Cultural Humility and De-escalation. The TS will also coordinate the monthly all-staff trainings with both internal and external presenters, coordinating all logistics of HHHRC trainings, support the development of curricula and related training materials and facilitate the HHHRC Training Committee.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Coordinate and implement the HEIS program education and training.
Coordinate and implement the Overdose Prevention and Response training monthly and as requested.
Coordinate and implement additional HHHRC Training Institute trainings as needed.
Provide administrative support related to HHHRC training activities including development of curriculum, training logistics, and the HHHRC training committee.
Organize and maintain training files and materials within a shared file system.
Collaborate with external partners and funders on training projects.
Coordinate logistics and field questions that support internal and external HHHRC trainings.
Create and update training fliers, PowerPoint slides, CEU certificates, and pre/post training surveys.
Facilitate communication with training participants prior to and after trainings.
Perform additional duties as needed and assigned. Duties are subject to change.
Coordinate monthly HHHRC all-staff trainings, HHHRC Training Committee meetings and other internal training efforts.
General Responsibilities:

Demonstrate steadfast understanding of, and commitment to, the Mission, Vision, and Values of HHHRC.
Work Hours:
Monday - Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm with some evening and weekend attendance required for special events and conferences.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
Office environment: indoors, air-conditioned.
Long hours sitting using office equipment and computers, which can cause muscle strain.
Regular use of computers keyboards, telephone, and operating office equipment.
Essential physical activities: standing, sitting, walking, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking, reaching above, at, and below shoulder, and frequent gripping of an object.
Occasional physical activities: stooping, bending, squatting, twisting body, and lifting.
Occasional lifting and carrying of supplies and equipment (up to 25 pounds).

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, etc.).
Knowledge of the LGB&T community, culture, and experiences.
Knowledge of curriculum development practices.
Ability to facilitate training presentations both in-person and virtually.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Ability to respond calmly and effectively in stressful situations.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Non-judgmental attitude and ability to respect the knowledge, actions, and feelings of others.

Education/Experience:
High School diploma/GED.
Two (2) or more years of relevant administrative and/or training facilitation experience. May consider relevant post-secondary education as substitute for years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associates or Bachelor’s degree.
Three (3) or more years of relevant administrative experience, as an Administrative Assistant or Executive Assistant.
Knowledge of harm reduction.
Knowledge of HIV, viral hepatitis, and STDs.
Required Work Cards/Certifications:
Valid Hawaii Driver’s License and clean three-year (3-year) Driver’s Abstract
TB Clearance
Hep B Clearance and/or Vaccination
Must pass Center for Medicare/Medicaid Services eligibility screening.
