The Training Specialist coordinates and conducts internal and external training programs focusing on overdose prevention, HIV/STI, and harm reduction. They are also responsible for developing curricula, managing training logistics, and facilitating the HHHRC Training Committee.
Requires a high school diploma and at least two years of administrative or training facilitation experience. Candidates must possess a valid Hawaii Driver's License and pass specific health clearances including TB and Hep B.
Hawai’i Health & Harm Reduction Center (HHHRC) provides harm reduction-focused services to marginalized populations in Hawai’i, including people living with and/or affected by HIV, hepatitis, substance use, homelessness, and the transgender, LGBQ, and the Native Hawaiian communities. HHHRC bridges gaps and helps individuals access essential resources such as housing, health care, entitlements, and treatment. We foster health, wellness, and systemic change in Hawai’i and the Pacific through outreach, care services, advocacy, training, prevention, education, and capacity building.
The Training Specialist is responsible for conducting and/or coordinating all aspects of training both internally within the agency and for participants of the HHHRC Training Institute. The Training Specialist will have two primary trainings to conduct for external partners: Overdose Prevention and Response and HIV/STI/Viral Hepatitis overview for HHHRC ‘s HIV Early Intervention Services (HEIS) program education and training. The Training Specialist will implement other trainings as part of the HHHRC training institute such as Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-informed Care, Cultural Humility and De-escalation. The TS will also coordinate the monthly all-staff trainings with both internal and external presenters, coordinating all logistics of HHHRC trainings, support the development of curricula and related training materials and facilitate the HHHRC Training Committee.

The Hawai'i Health and Harm Reduction Center serves Hawai’i communities by reducing the harm and fighting the stigma of HIV, hepatitis, homelessness, substance use, mental illness, and poverty in our community. We focus our efforts on those disproportionately affected by social determinants of health, including but not limited to: people living with and/or affected by HIV, hepatitis, substance use, and the transgender, LGBQ and the Native Hawaiian communities. We foster health, wellness, and systemic change in Hawai’i and the Pacific through care services, advocacy, training, prevention, education, and capacity building.
