Systematic Review Research Officer - MCHRI (Monash Centre for Health Research & Implementation), Monash Medical Centre Clayton

  • Full-Time Fixed Term for 12 months (with a view to extending)
  • Employment Dates: July 2026 - July 2027
  • Hours p.w: 38 hours (1.0 EFT)
  • Salary range p.a: HS3

 

We are recruiting a Systematic Review Research Officer to support MCHRI’s nationally and internationally significant update of the PCOS guideline. This role delivers high‑quality evidence synthesis across the full systematic‑review workflow, including developing PICOS, codesigning and running search strategies, screening studies, extracting and analysing data, and producing rigorous evidence reports. Working within a collaborative evidence team, the officer ensures methodological integrity, timely outputs, and alignment with Monash Health quality and safety standards.

 

The role works closely with the MCHRI Guideline team, the Evidence Synthesis Lead, the Director of MCHRI, and international partners. Responsibilities include supporting stakeholder engagement, preparing meeting materials, contributing to workshops, and developing reports and presentations that inform project planning and evaluation. The position also monitors risks, tracks milestones, and manages competing priorities to maintain project momentum.
Success in this role requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to equity, diversity, and sustainable research practices. By producing transparent, high‑quality evidence outputs, the officer plays a critical role in developing methodologically robust, internationally relevant clinical guidelines.

 

About Monash Centre for Health Research and Implementation (MCHRI), School of Public Health, Monash University and Monash Health

MCHRI sits under the Facility of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences at Monash University. Established in 2005, MCHRI has grown from 3 to 180 staff and students. This is a partnership centre across Monash University and Monash Health and provides an implementation laboratory for research and translation embedded and integrated into healthcare. MCHRI works with broader reach across Monash Partners Academic Health Science Centre, nationally and internationally in our research and translation endeavours. Our vision is to create, synthesise, implement and translate clinical, health care and public health knowledge, underpinned by cross sector end user engagement, to deliver health impact. MCHRI has led organisational and individual leadership support programs in healthcare for nearly a decade.

 

About the Role


Key result areas:

  • Meeting preparation & facilitation – prepare agendas and meeting papers; support or lead internal meetings and workshops with stakeholders to achieve project outcomes.
  • Stakeholder liaison & project coordination – liaise with stakeholders, support project delivery, manage competing priorities, and track timelines, milestones, risks, and issues.
  • Search strategy design & evidence retrieval – codesign search strategies and PICOS; undertake searches; screen titles, abstracts, and full texts.
  • Data extraction, analysis & quality review – extract and analyse data; conduct quality and integrity assessments and reporting.
  • Report and presentation development – write reports; prepare reports and presentations for planning, implementation, and evaluation; independently develop evidence report structure and content from draft to final.
  • Project planning & implementation – develop and implement project plans to support delivery.

 

About You


Essential skills / knowledge / experience:

  • Tertiary health qualification – tertiary qualification in health or a related field.
  • Evidence synthesis experience – experience in evidence synthesis, systematic reviews and/or guideline development.
  • Salary is negotiable and commensurate with experience.
  • Research experience – demonstrated experience working in a research or professional environment.
  • Analytical and problem‑solving skills – ability to apply theoretical principles to practical problems.
  • Project management capability – experience with large‑scale projects and understanding project complexity.
  • Stakeholder & team collaboration – ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders and within a team.
  • Communication skills – strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Deadline management – ability to work autonomously, under pressure, and meet deadlines with tact and composure.
  • Organisational skills – ability to set priorities, manage time, and plan work effectively.
  • Digital literacy – sound computer literacy and ability to learn new software
  • Positive, flexible working style – ability to support senior academics and work with a flexible, positive, collaborative approach.
  • Commitment to equity & safe practice – commitment to equity, diversity, sustainable research practices, safety, innovation, and productivity improvement.
  • Independent or team‑based work – ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.

 

Desirable skills / knowledge / experience:

  • Experience in a hospital, university, or medical research institute environment.
  • Qualifications in clinical research, health sciences, nursing, or a related field.
  • Proficiency with Covidence.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring research staff.
