Within Azure Data, the databases team builds and maintains Microsoft's operational Database systems. We store and manage data in a structured way to enable multitude of applications across various industries. We are on a journey to enable developer friendly, mission-critical, AI enabled operational Databases across relational, non-relational and OSS offerings.  

We are a team of passionate engineers who work on building and scaling the managed PostgreSQL service on Azure. This team is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to help with driving reliability, performance, security, and operational excellence and enable scalable cloud database experiences by owning platform primitives, developer productivity, and end-to-end service health for mission‑critical PostgreSQL workloads.

Responsibilities


Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications 

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline   
  10+ years of software development experience using C#, C++, GO, RUST or an equivalent systems programming language   
  knowledge of database internals in PostgreSQL (preferred)  
  Proficiency in building highly concurrent, multi-threaded, performance‑optimized systems (Go, Rust, C#, C/C++)   
  Strong debugging, performance tuning, and systems‑level problem‑solving skills.

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: 

This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
