Whether advising on a merger, providing financial solutions for an acquisition, or structuring an initial public offering, we handle projects that help clients at major milestones. Advisory Group works to deliver banking services for a wide range of industries. Our team approach to client service enables our bankers to play an important role in building relationships and executing transactions. Classic investment bankers have expertise in advising clients across industries, regions and products. Teams are organized by industry group, including Consumer Retail Group, Financial Institutions Group, Financial and Strategic Investors Group, Healthcare, Industrials, Natural Resources, Real Estate, and Technology, Media and Telecom.

On any given day, our Tokyo-based team may advise a Japanese or multinational company on a cross-border merger, structure the initial public offering of a subsidiary, refinance an outstanding bond, and more.

Role Responsibilities

Analysts in our Tokyo office play a key role in developing and strengthening client relationships, participating in advisory teams, and structuring and executing a full range of financial transactions. Responsibilities include:

• Creating and analysing financial models
• Organizing and preparing client presentations
• Managing transaction processes
• Assisting in structuring transactions
• Analysts gain exposure to the firm’s global businesses and deepen their understanding of the investment banking industry while developing key analytical, communication, and marketing skills.

They are actively involved in mergers and acquisitions (M&A), fixed income, and equity issuances. Analysts also:

• Perform customized company valuation analysis
• Coordinate teams of tax advisors, attorneys, and bankers
• Lead due diligence processes
• Participate in legal negotiations
• Maintain client communication and help structure transactions

Skills & Experience We’re Looking For

Basic Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ investment banking or equivalent experience
• Native Japanese language skills
• History of outstanding academic and professional achievement
• Strong team orientation and ability to work effectively across groups and regions
