Founded in 1996, Zaman International is a non-profit organization committed to addressing the basic needs and empowerment of marginalized women and children locally and internationally. Our client families receive dignified, wraparound services at our Hope for Humanity Center in Inkster, MI. Families can utilize our on-site client-choice food pantry and clothing closet, receive case management services, and enroll in skills training courses to help break the cycle of poverty. In 2017, we opened our Culinary Arts Training Kitchen which will provide client and community classes as well as nutritious meals to those in need. The number of individuals served in our homebase of Southeast Michigan since 1996 exceeds 215,000. This assistance includes 8,000 hours of job skills and literacy instruction and the distribution of 1,018,000 pounds of food. More than 400 community partners work with Zaman to provide additional services. In 2017, Zaman distributed 212 back to school winter coats, 624 school supply-filled backpacks, and $77,000 worth of clothing, furniture and financial aid. Internationally, Zaman provides its donor base an opportunity to fund disaster relief and clean water projects through our Sips of Hope program, which partners with International Medical Corp for delivery of services. Both domestically and internationally, Zaman has served more than 1.5 million services during domestic disasters like the Flint water crisis, hurricanes and droughts in 15 countries.
