POSITION SUMMARY:  Reconciles general ledger accounts daily; prepares formal reconciliation reports on a weekly and monthly basis. Utilizing customized reports, researches and resolves outstanding transactions. Works independently under the supervision of the Controller. 

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:  

• Prepares fixed asset accounting reports by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system, monthly posting requirements and the Bank’s fixed asset accounting system.
• Prepares accounting related entries, including prepaid and accrued expense entries, to appropriate registers, journals and logs. Maintains Prepaids in the fixed asset accounting system.
• Processes and posts foreign check exchange and withdrawals, and Investment Securities principal and interest payments.
• Completes daily, weekly and/or monthly general ledger reconciliations, including correspondent bank reconciliations, and submits to the Controller. 
• Tracks and retains all bank reconciliations.
• Answers accounting questions by researching and interpreting data.
• Prepares documentation for external auditors and regulatory agencies. 
• Follows the Bank’s established accounting processes. Recommends changes by analyzing current procedures. Implements approved process revisions.

REQUIRED SKILLS:  Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills. Strong proficiency in various finance and accounting related software programs with advanced Excel spreadsheet aptitude. Experience in managing multiple projects and workflow in a deadline driven environment. Ability to maintain confidentiality.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work is generally performed in an office environment, with frequent interruptions. Must be able to stay in a stationary position, operate a computer, move inside the workplace and exchange information. 

MINIMUM EDUCATION: Associates Degree in related discipline or equivalent years of experience.

MINIMUM PRIOR EXPERIENCE: 3 - 5 years of related experience.
