The Public Health Sanitarian 1 conducts environmental inspections, sampling, and investigations across various public health programs. They also serve as a primary trainer for lower-level staff and perform quality assurance activities to ensure regulatory compliance.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health or a related science field with at least 30 semester hours in basic sciences. Additionally, at least 3 years of full-time experience in environmental health inspections and a valid driver's license are required.
The Public Health Sanitarian I reports to the Department Manager 6. This position may conduct inspections or environmental sampling in one or more various programs including: Food, Pool, Childcare, Body Art, Septic/Well, Campground, or Vector Surveillance. The Public Health Sanitarian 1 will function as the primary trainer for employees in the lower classifications and conduct quality assurance activities with Environmental Compliance Technicians.
Obtain State or National registration as a Sanitarian/Environmental Health Specialist within 6 months of appointment to this classification.
