Job DetailsJob Location: 730 East 12th Street - New York, NY 10009Position Type: Part TimeSalary Range: $27.00 - $27.00 HourlyUniversity Settlement partners with 40,000+ New Yorkers in Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn every year to build on our collective strengths as we achieve healthy, stable, and remarkable lives. For nearly 140 years, we’ve fought poverty and systemic inequality by building highly effective social services in collaboration with our neighbors. Established in 1886 as the first Settlement House in the United States, we bring the values of that movement into the 21st century by meeting New Yorkers where they live, listening deeply to all perspectives, and creating space for responsive cooperation.

Joining with our neighbors to make stable foundations where people of all ages can grow and pursue their dreams, we build community strength. We infuse a commitment to civic engagement, equality, and communal action into each of our programs, which include early childhood education, youth development, healthy aging, mental health and wellness, English classes for adult immigrants, community centers, and the arts.

Responsibilities

Work as part of a team and maintain constant clear communication via email to all team members.
Assist Director in overseeing day-to-day operations of the summer day camp, school recess and afterschool programs.
Attend event committee meetings, weekly team meetings, and other meetings as assigned.
Assist Director in parent outreach via phone call, memo, and personal meetings daily when children are not in attendance.
Assist in the supervision of group leaders, tutors, Outreach Coordinator, and support staff.
In conjunction with the Director act as a liaison between after-school staff and school-day staff to
ensure the program’s alignment with school-day curriculum.
Assist in developing and implementing curriculum, lesson plans, schedules, rosters, etc.
Assist in facilitating staff orientations and trainings.
Assist the Director in maintaining all equipment & supplies.
Provide direct program service as an experienced staff.
Assist Director in documenting and maintaining daily enrollment and attendance data.
Keep all program records on a daily and annual basis, including registering participants.
Tracking attendance of staff and participants.
Ordering supplies in a timely fashion and setting up accounts with vendors.
Attend relevant trainings and orientations.
Help oversee interns, including Summer Youth Employment Workers, college interns, and volunteers.
Ensure all DYCD and DOE required incidents reports are completed and sent to the appropriate agency.
Build and maintain partnerships with local officials and community leaders.
Manage participants’ Individualized Accommodation Plans.
Maintain Student Behavioral Support Plans and Logs.
Coordinate services implemented directly (e.g., hiring paraprofessionals for students with disabilities; hiring staff with relevant language skills to ensure quality services for ELLs) or indirectly (e.g., making referrals or coordinating with NYCPS to make referrals to professionals who screen students for learning disabilities or diagnose mental health conditions).
Communicate with DYCD about needs for specialized supports (e.g., specialized paraprofessionals, nurses, or transportation) that are beyond the program’s capacity through a reasonable accommodation.
Support for Participants with Disabilities.
Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

HS diploma or HSE with 5 years of experience in after school required; 4-year degree preferred.
Experience working with children and experience as a supervisor or coordinator required.
Ability to communicate effectively in writing, via phone, and in person.
Highly energetic, dynamic, fast paced, can easily multi-task and very motivated.
Strong interpersonal skills, problem-solving ability, and crisis intervention skills.
Must be solution oriented and able to work independently as well as part of a management team.
Proficient in Microsoft Office needed.
