Job Duties:
Cooks at UWM perform a variety of food preparation activities and related tasks according to quality and safety standards in dining, retail, and/or catering venues to ensure customer satisfaction and achieve departmental food service goals.Thisposition works closely with students, student managers, andlimited-termemployees.
Availability/Schedule-Various days, times, and shift options are available including:
Monday - Friday: 5:00am - 1:30pm
Monday - Friday: 8:00am - 4:30pm
Monday - Friday: 12:00pm - 8:30pm
Tuesday - Saturday:11:00am-7:30pm and 9:00am-5:30pm (Saturday)
Perform routine and non-routine food preparation activities including cook-to-order and specialty foods (50%)
Train and guide student workers (20%)
Greets customers, answers questions, and provides information regarding food preparation and associated activities (10%)
Adheres to federal, state, campus, and local safety regulations, policies, and procedures (10%)
Cleans, inspects and maintains bakery equipment and work areas to ensure adherence to safe food quality, handling, and sanitation processes and procedures(10%)

Required Qualifications:
Experience in various food service concepts (Full service, quick service, etc.)
At least two years of experience preparing food in a commercial kitchen environment
Supervisor or Lead worker experience in a food service environment (training, assigning tasks, and scheduling of subordinate staff)
Experience cooking food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, and food preparation checklists
Experience working in higher education, hotel, hospital, or institutional facility
Associate's Degree or higher in Culinary Arts or related field
ServSafe Sanitation Certification or equivalent
