Job Description
The Associate / Sr. Associate, Investment Operations will assist in overseeing daily investment operations functions. The candidate will bring at least 5-10 years of experience and subject matter expertise in investment operations to support the increase in investment process sophistication and growth in assets under management. The candidate exhibits coaching and leadership tendencies and a proven track record of sharing their expertise and knowledge and training their colleagues.

Team-Specific Responsibilities
Investment Operations
- Reconcile UBCIM’s Investment Book of Record (IBOR) to official administrator records across holdings, transactions, cash, and performance, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely resolution of discrepancies.
- Serve as a trusted primary point of contact on investment operations matters between UBCIM and its client (UBC), external service providers, and internal stakeholders.
- Provide day‑to‑day oversight and guidance to the Analyst and Senior Analysts on the team; review work outputs, monitor controls, and ensure the integrity and accuracy of operational records at all times.
- Act as a coach and mentor to colleagues by clearly communicating operational methodologies, promoting best practices, and contributing to the ongoing development of the investment operations function.
- Demonstrate thought leadership in identifying, analyzing, and resolving day-to-day operational issues, with particular focus on performance measurement, fund accounting, and cash and trade settlement processes.
- Collaborate effectively with management and cross functional teams on initiatives beyond investment operations where operational insight contributes to broader organizational objectives.
- Independently lead and execute assigned workstreams within projects and initiatives that support UBCIM’s business objectives, proactively identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and accelerate delivery.
- Support the Director, Investment Operations as their proxy and be able to confidently make thoughtful and precise decisions regarding day-to-day activities.
Administration and Reporting
- Manage client reporting interactions with UBC, including inquiry management and issue resolution.
- Drive the team to identify opportunities to improve data quality, formulate, lead and execute projects to implement those improvements
- Take full responsibility of timeliness, completeness and quality of all reporting UBCIM produces
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of Fund Accounting experience within multiple private asset classes; candidates with longer years of Fund Accounting and broader Investment Operations experience — including people management and project leadership — will be considered for the Senior Associate level.
- Deep and confident expertise in Private and Alternative Asset Fund Accounting, Custody, Performance Measurement across all asset classes, and investor reporting, with the ability to mentor others.
- Experience driving automation and process controls enhancements in data‑centric environments; AI enablement experience an asset.
- Highly organized, adaptable, and effective under competing priorities.
- Excellent communicator with proven stakeholder management skills.
- Experience and deep understanding of Investment Reporting systems and how they are interlinked – with a track record of improving interoperability between such systems
- CPA designation considered an asset
UBCIM will consider candidates with varying levels of qualification and experience. Total compensation will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s experience and qualifications.
This role is primarily an in-office role and as such the successful candidate must reside in the Metro Vancouver Area.
