Overview
The Assistant Director of Campus Ministries (ADCM) serves as an operational and ministry support leader within the Campus Ministries program at the College for Officer Training (CFOT). Working under the direction of the Director of Campus Ministries (DCM), the ADCM provides day-to-day support management, program execution, and operational coordination across all youth services, including daycare, afterschool care, and middle and high school ministries.
The ADCM plays a critical role in ensuring continuity, consistency, and quality in program delivery, with an emphasis on safety, staff supervision, and ministry presence. This role supports the implementation of the Campus Ministries vision by actively engaging in both operational management and hands-on ministry. In addition, the ADCM serves a secondary leader for compliance, safeguarding, and operational oversight.
Responsibilities
Program and Ministry Delivery:
Assist in the implementation of Campus Ministries programming across all age groups, from infants through high school participants, in collaboration with the DCM and the Youth Ministries Specialist.
Support and participate in the delivery of Christian education, youth programming, and ministry activities.
Ensure that daily programming reflects established ministry vision and aligns with Salvation Army mission standards.
Provide pastoral support to all CM participants.
Provide leadership presence within programs and effectively engage with CM participants.
Assist in adapting programming to meet the developmental, spiritual and emotional needs of participants.
Work with the DCM to offer support, availability, and resources to parents of children with special needs, maintaining a high level of professionalism and discretion in interactions.
In collaboration with the DCM, develop strategies, together with the parent and Lead Teacher, to best include every child with special needs in an integrated classroom.
Operational Support and Coordination:
Support the day-to-day operation of Campus Ministry programs, ensuring continuity and consistency of program excellence.
When needed, step into classrooms to assist in teaching and staff coverage.
Support logistical planning and execution of activities, including coordination of space, materials, and staffing needs.
Address real time challenges and discover quick resolutions.
Serve as the on-site operational lead in the absence of the DCM.
Lead staff meetings in the absence of the DCM.
Participate in monthly Parent Meetings.
Campus Ministries Administration:
Assist with administrative duties, such as filing paperwork and record keeping.
Assist with financial duties, including processing receipts and expense reports.
Maintain timely submissions of all SmartData purchases.
Coordinate the snack schedule and purchases for all CM participants.
Create monthly videos and newsletters to highlight the ministry and program highlights in CM.
Support the school enrollment of all CM participants.
Assist the DCM in coordinating staff schedules to ensure proper ratios and program stability.
Staff Supervision and Support:
Provide direct supervision and guidance to assigned staff.
Reinforce expectations related to ministry and program execution.
Support the onboarding and ongoing training of staff.
Assist in identifying performance concerns and escalating employee relation issues to DCM as appropriate.
Collaborates with the DCM for the delivery of all CM staff performance evaluations.
Foster a collaborative and mission-aligned work environment.
Compliance and Safeguarding Support:
Assist in ensuring compliance with New York State childcare licensing requirements and Salvation Army policy.
Reinforce adherence to KeepSAfe protocols.
Support recordkeeping, documentation, and preparation for audits and inspections.
Monitor program environments to ensure health, safety, and supervision standards.
Act as secondary point of accountability for compliance.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and three to five years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Valid Driver’s license.
