Work Location: Martinez, CA

Employment Details: Full Time, Non Exempt

Schedule: Must be available to work 1 weekend day from 10:30 AM- 7 PM and on Thursdays from 10:30 AM- 7PM

The other 3 workdays the shift is 12 PM-8:30 PM

Compensation: $25-27/hour

About the role: We are seeking a compassionate and dependable Shelter Lead I to help ensure the safe, efficient, and welcoming operation of our shelter program. This role provides day-to-day guidance to Shelter Attendants, supports guest services, and helps maintain a trauma-informed environment for individuals experiencing homelessness.

What you’ll do:

  • Support daily shelter operations and ensure a safe, clean, and organized environment.
  • Provide operational guidance and support to Shelter Attendants during assigned shifts.
  • Assist with participant intake, orientations, bed assignments, and exits.
  • Respond to participant concerns, conflicts, emergencies, and behavioral incidents.
  • Complete incident reports, shift logs, and required documentation.
  • Promote a respectful, participant-centered, trauma-informed environment.
  • Conduct routine safety and security walkthroughs and report facility concerns.
  • Assist with training and onboarding new staff and maintaining program compliance.

What You'll Bring:

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in homeless services, emergency shelter, residential programs, behavioral health, human services, or a related field.
  • Experience mentoring, training, or providing work direction to others preferred.
  • Strong communication, conflict resolution, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, overnight shifts, and holidays.

Position Requirements:

  • Must successfully pass a criminal background check
  • Must provide TB test clearance
