Founded in 1974, Second Harvest of Silicon Valley is one of the largest food banks in the nation and a trusted nonprofit leader in ending local hunger. The organization distributes nutritious groceries through a network of nearly 400 partners at drive-thru and walk-up sites across Santa Clara and San Mateo counties. Due to the prohibitively expensive cost of living in Silicon Valley, the economic downturn caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, and the rise in inflation, Second Harvest is now serving an average of about 500,000 people every month. Second Harvest also connects people to federal nutrition programs and other food resources, and advocates for anti-hunger policies on the local, state and national levels. About the Position

The Senior Manager leads a dedicated team of five-six direct reports and three indirect reports to ensure continuous nutritional assistance is provided to low-income individuals and families in local communities through our partners and Second Harvest program sites. The Senior Program Manager identifies and addresses service gaps, expands the network of community partnerships and oversees internal and external workflows. In addition, the position guides compliance strategy in their County and activities in collaboration with the Compliance Manager and other Sr. Managers. Approximately ~20% of the time is dedicated to field meetings with community partners, site leaders, and team members to strengthen collaborations, improve communication, enrich regional understanding, and consistently build commitment to our vision.

Responsibilities

· Lead Management of a County-Focused Partner Relationship Tteam

o In collaboration with the Director of Programs, set and communicate a strong vision for direct and indirect reports, including establishment of clear priorities, objectives, and measurable goals

o Responsible for hiring, supervision and professional development support of five-six Program Managers and their indirect reports and building a highly engaged and dynamic hybrid-remote/field team.

o Support and coach managers to address day-to-day food flow needs and challenges and to implement resolutions to client and partner incidents and concerns.

· Ensure partners and Second Harvest program sites are connected equitably to Second Harvest food and services in ways in that meet client, volunteer and partner needs while balancing organizational sustainability needs

o Lead team to develop procedures and implement systems supporting all methods of food provision to partners and clients (currently including methods called: auto-menu, shopping, grocery rescue, marketplace, online ordering, prebox, binned items, hubs, delivery/pickup, and more as available).

o Identify needs, advocate for improvements, envision and help craft solutions to best support constituents’ experience

· Build relationships to effectively serve the community and the organization’s mission and vision

o Lead and develop the team to engage in the community, demonstrate their growing leadership skills, and to grow and deepen various types of partnerships throughout your county of focus.

o Collaborate with various internal and external staff and community organizations to meet strategic plan goals.

o Meet with partners, site-leaders, team members and colleagues in-person and online to deepen knowledge of the county, build relationships and identify, connect and support organizations addressing the root cause of hunger.

· Compliance, reporting and recordkeeping

o Understand, follow guidance and instruct Managers to implement any necessary updates regarding compliance requirements to ensure alignment with Feeding America, USDA, and Second Harvest standards within the county; collaborate with Compliance Manager to maintain high standards of compliance.

o Support internal USDA committee to ensure ongoing compliance, address issues and future planning

o Ensure timely collection and submission of monthly program data.

o Ensure system procedures are followed and data hygiene and updates are maintained on time and as required by Managers in the ERP and CRM systems (Ceres and Salesforce)

· General Leadership and Projects.

o Lead and participate in creating solutions and carrying out projects, particularly those designed to support the day-to-day food flow processes and client, partner and volunteer experiences.

o In instances of a federal, state or locally declared emergency, Second Harvest of

Silicon Valley is typically considered an essential service and emergency responder; all its employees may be called in to perform regular or emergent duties.

o Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

The ideal candidate will possess the following professional qualifications:

· Six to eight years of applicable work and educational experiences with at least three years of complex project management experience.

· Excellent people management skills with two years supervising people with a demonstrated ability to motivate, provide direction and lead others

· Demonstrated experience in program design, implementation, and evaluation for non-profit or social change organizations.

· Proven ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with people of various ages, educational, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds and demonstration of cultural humility in your work with diverse stakeholders. A strong foundation in the ideas and practices that promote diversity, equity, and belonging, and a proven commitment to ongoing professional development in this area.

· Working knowledge of public and private community service resources within San Mateo County or Santa Clara County would be ideal.

· Demonstrated ability to express ideas clearly via telephone, in person and in writing.

· Possession of a valid California Class C driver’s license and a clean DMV record. Willingness to drive personal vehicle, as necessary. Compensation for business mileage is reimbursable at standard IRS rate.

· Fluency in another language like Spanish, Vietnamese or Chinese, both oral and written, is a plus.

Location This is a hybrid position. Specifics of work location will depend on department need. Approximately 20% of the time in the field meeting with staff, partners and lead volunteers in community settings An employee’s regular remote work site should be within driving distance of one of Second Harvest’s locations and must be within the state of California.

Hours Full-Time, Exempt. 40 hours/week, with some evening and weekend work as necessary.

Compensation $90,054 - $105,946 is the starting wage range for this position. The salary wage offer will be commensurate with skills and experience. Outstanding and generous health benefits program, 4-5 weeks of Flexible Time Off (vacation and sick), eleven paid holidays, and retirement plan.
