The Scott Technology Center opened in 2002 as a complimentary mission of the Peter Kiewit Institute. The Technology Center is comprised of 140,000 square feet of offices, labs and collaborative space hosting various industry, government, and academic organizations. In 2006, the Scott Data Center began operations. The 110,000 square foot purpose-built data center is Uptime Institute Tier 3 Certified in both design and construction. In 2022, Scott Managed Services launched in response to the changing data center industry and validated requirements from data center clients. The Scott Technology, Data Center and Managed Services are headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska but are expanding geographically through key strategic partnerships.
We are seeking a Part-Time Accounting Associate professional to join our multi-faceted team.
Job Summary
This role will be responsible for day‑to‑day accounting activities, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting month‑end close and reporting. The position will interact regularly with internal stakeholders, vendors, and customers and plays a key role in ensuring timely, accurate financial information.
Primary Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):
Transaction & Record Maintenance
- Record and properly categorize all financial transactions, including expenses, deposits, transfers, and journal entries
- Maintain organized and complete digital accounting records and documentation
- Ensure transactions are coded in accordance with company policies and accounting standards
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Process vendor invoices, verify accuracy, and schedule payments
- Generate and distribute customer invoices in a timely manner
- Track accounts receivable and follow up on past‑due balances
- Resolve basic billing discrepancies with vendors and customers
Other
- Prepare monthly accounting schedules and reconciliations
- Perform ad hoc financial analysis as requested
- Assist with process improvements, system clean‑ups, or one‑time accounting projects
Required Skills & Experience:
- Understanding of basic accounting principles
- High attention to detail
- Ability to work independently
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- 2+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
- Experience working in Microsoft Business Central and/or other ERP systems
