We are looking for a Technical Business Development Manager to help build Rock Bund Capital’s Asia trading infrastructure from the ground up.
This person will work directly with brokers, exchanges, prime brokers, market-data vendors, traders, and engineering teams to establish the market-access, connectivity, data, clearing, control, and operating workflows required for systematic trading across China and broader Asia markets.
China is the first priority, including A-shares, Stock Connect, and commodity futures, with Korea, Taiwan, and India on the roadmap as the platform expands. This is a 0-to-1 build with high visibility across the firm: you will help source and evaluate counterparties, drive onboarding and commercial discussions, translate trading requirements into technical deliverables, coordinate go-live readiness, and ensure the setup is robust enough for live capital.
This is not a coordination-only role. We expect this person to own the market-access and trading-infrastructure buildout end to end: identifying the right brokers and access routes, understanding the implications of Stock Connect, QFII / RQFII, and relevant securities borrowing and lending workflows, driving connectivity and market-data setup, and working with traders and engineering teams until the flow is production-ready.
The ideal candidate combines strong external relationship-management capability with hands-on understanding of trading infrastructure. You know how brokers, exchanges, market-data vendors, clearing partners, and internal trading / engineering teams interact, and you can turn a market-access idea into a production-ready trading flow.
-
Lead the 0-to-1 buildout of Rock Bund Capital’s Asia trading infrastructure, with China as the initial priority and Korea, Taiwan, and India as future expansion markets.
-
Source, evaluate, onboard, and manage external counterparties, including brokers, execution channels, exchanges, prime brokers, clearing partners, market-data vendors, and infrastructure providers.
-
Drive commercial and operational discussions with counterparties, including market access, connectivity options, commission / fee schedules, market-data terms, financing / borrow capabilities, onboarding timelines, service-level expectations, and escalation paths.
-
Own the China market-access setup across A-shares, Stock Connect, and commodity futures, coordinating with brokers, exchanges, legal, compliance, traders, and internal technology teams.
-
Assess market-access routes and understand the practical implications of Stock Connect, QFII / RQFII, and other relevant access structures, including account setup, trading rules, settlement, reporting, operational constraints, and control requirements.
-
Work with traders and strategists to understand trading requirements, then translate them into concrete workflows, system requirements, acceptance criteria, UAT plans, and go-live checklists for engineering and operations teams.
-
Partner with engineering teams on trading connectivity and infrastructure requirements, including FIX / API workflows, order routing, drop copy, market-data feeds, OMS / EMS integration, gateway testing, and production support expectations.
-
Coordinate market-data and infrastructure setup, including exchange feeds, vendor data, entitlements, licensing, connectivity, proximity hosting, and co-location where relevant.
-
Establish pre-trade, at-trade, and post-trade operating controls, including exchange rule checks, trading limits, kill-switch procedures, reconciliation workflows, incident escalation, and production runbooks.
-
Understand securities borrowing and lending requirements where relevant, including borrow availability, locates, short-selling eligibility, borrow cost, recall risk, and how borrow constraints affect systematic trading strategies.
-
Own go-live readiness across internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that the trading flow is operationally sound, technically validated, and properly controlled before it touches live capital.
-
Act as the key point of contact when issues arise across brokers, exchanges, vendors, traders, and internal engineering teams.
-
Help prioritize market expansion across Asia based on trading demand, broker readiness, infrastructure complexity, capital efficiency, and operational risk.
-
Experience from a top-tier brokerage firm, prime broker, exchange, market-data / trading-infrastructure provider, or buy-side execution / trading operations team.
-
Hands-on experience building or operating China / Asia market-access infrastructure for institutional trading, including broker onboarding, trading connectivity, market-data setup, account / clearing / settlement workflows, and production support.
-
Strong practical understanding of institutional access routes into China markets, including Stock Connect and/or QFII / RQFII, with the ability to identify operational, settlement, reporting, and trading-rule implications.
-
Proven ability to source, evaluate, onboard, and manage external trading counterparties, including brokers, prime brokers, exchanges, market-data vendors, and infrastructure providers.
-
Strong understanding of how brokers, exchanges, market-data vendors, clearing partners, traders, and engineering teams interact in a live trading environment.
-
Familiarity with China or broader Asia market structure, including equities, Stock Connect, commodity futures, exchange rules, market-data setup, and trading controls.
-
Ability to translate trader and strategist requirements into concrete technical, operational, and control requirements for engineering and operations teams.
-
Familiarity with securities borrowing and lending workflows, including borrow availability, locates, short-selling eligibility, borrow cost, recall risk, and how borrow constraints affect systematic trading strategies.
-
Strong project and program-management discipline, with the ability to manage timelines, dependencies, RAID logs, UAT, go-live readiness, and cross-functional sign-offs.
-
Strong commercial and relationship-management capability; able to negotiate, escalate, follow up, and hold external counterparties accountable.
-
Self-driven with strong ownership, comfortable building a new capability from scratch in a high-stakes trading environment.
-
Fluency in English & Mandarin Chinese to communicate effectively with colleagues across different locations.
-
Direct experience with A-shares, Stock Connect, QFII / RQFII, or China commodity futures.
-
Direct experience with onshore broker / custodian workflows, cross-border account structures, clearing, settlement, or regulatory reporting requirements.

Familiarity with Korea, Taiwan, or India market access, including KRX / KOSPI, KRX derivatives, TWSE / TAIFEX, NSE / BSE, or FPI setup.
-
Experience with FIX / API connectivity, drop copy, OMS / EMS workflows, exchange-gateway conformance testing, or market-data feed integration.
-
Experience negotiating or operating under ISDA, give-up, clearing, connectivity, or market-data agreements.
-
Knowledge of securities borrow inventory management, SBL, refinancing, availability, locate workflows, and short-selling constraints.
-
Hands-on experience with pre-trade, at-trade, and post-trade control frameworks, exchange-level risk limits, kill switches, and production runbooks.
-
Experience building runbooks, go-live readiness processes, RAID logs, or production escalation frameworks from scratch.
-
Experience in a systematic trading, quant trading, electronic trading, or low-latency trading environment where infrastructure quality directly impacts PnL.
-
A strong academic background.
