Job Summary
The Video Podcast Editor (Contract) is an independent contractor role supporting end-to-end post-production for the myPlanMember podcast — a video podcast produced by PlanMember Marketing — and related video and audio content.
We are looking for a technically skilled, brand-aware, and reliable video editor who is comfortable in a fully remote, multi-participant recording environment. The editor will produce publish-ready video episodes and short-form video clips and will serve as a backup operator for live-switched recording sessions as PlanMember migrates production from StreamYard to vMix.
PlanMember produces the myPlanMember podcast as a fully remote recording: the producer is based in California, the two hosts record from separate setups in New York, and guests join from various locations.
The team currently records in StreamYard (with comparable platforms such as Descript and Riverside) and is in the process of migrating production to vMix with NDI-based workflows.
This position reports directly to the Producer of the myPlanMember podcast.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
POST-PRODUCTION EDITING
Edit podcast episodes (audio and video) from raw recordings to publish-ready files using Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Audition, and Adobe After Effects
Perform color correction, audio mixing, leveling, and noise reduction across multi-participant remote recordings
Add graphics, lower thirds, intros, outros, and branded elements per PlanMember style guidelines
Cut short-form clips and trailers from long-form episodes for social media and marketing use
LIVE PRODUCTION SUPPORT
Operate vMix as backup or relief technical director for live-switched recording sessions, including managing NDI-based camera and audio feeds during production
Support the ongoing migration of production from StreamYard to vMix, including building and maintaining show templates, overlays, and scene presets
PROJECT COORDINATION AND DELIVERY
Manage project files, naming conventions, version control, and final deliverables
Coordinate with the internal team on revisions, feedback, and approvals through Frame.io
Meet agreed-upon turnaround times for each episode and project
Support additional content, marketing, and ad-hoc production projects as assigned
Additional Job Duties
This is a fully remote, independent contractor position open to qualified candidates anywhere in the United States.
Each video podcast episode is estimated to require approximately 4 to 6 hours of editor time. Expected workload is variable, averaging up to 20 hours per month. across podcast episodes plus additional short-form video clips, revisions, live-production support, and ad-hoc projects.
The engagement is ongoing, with the ability to scale up or down based on production needs.
The editor will supply their own primary workstation and software. Because vMix is Windows-only, a Windows-based workstation is required to support live-switching backup duties.
An active Adobe Creative Cloud subscription (Premiere Pro, Audition, and After Effects) is required.
PlanMember will supply the licensed vMix live-production environment. Project files are exchanged via Frame.io.
