The Program Officer is responsible for the implementation and day-to-day oversight of Volunteer Texas initiatives and the management of the federal Volunteer Generation Fund grant. Key duties include leading the YouthServe TX program, managing the Governor’s Volunteer Awards, and coordinating outreach for Days of Service.
Candidates should have 2-5 years of relevant work experience and a degree from an accredited university in a relevant field. Experience working with nonprofits, schools, or managing volunteers is strongly preferred.

Today, OneStar carries out its mission for state government as a supporting nonprofit of the Office of the Governor. We serve as the state’s Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives and the State Service Commission, managing a portfolio of approximately $30 million in federal grant funds for AmeriCorps Texas programs. OneStar focuses on strengthening the nonprofit sector, encouraging civic engagement through service and volunteering, and building disaster resiliency across Texas. OneStar seeks to fill the full-time position of Volunteer Texas Program Officer. This position is funded through a Volunteer Generation Fund grant. This position performs moderately complex work and is responsible for implementation of Volunteer Texas programs. This position reports to the Vice President of Service and Volunteerism, and performs professional work with general supervision and limited latitude for use initiative and independent judgement.
