Responsibilities
The Data Analyst translates business questions into structured analyses and creates visualizations to drive decision-making. They partner with stakeholders and technical teams to define KPIs, validate data models, and ensure data quality against SAP ERP.
Requirements
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Candidates must have proficiency in Power BI and entry-level SQL skills, with a strong ability to communicate technical issues to business audiences.
Full job description
Position Purpose:
The Data Analyst will be part of the OWI Analytics team, partnering closely with business stakeholders to translate business questions into structured analyses that drive decision-making. This role goes beyond report production — it requires understanding the "why" behind a request, identifying the right data and methodology, and delivering insights that business partners can act on.
Duties, Tasks, and Responsibilities:
Learn and map business processes end-to-end with stakeholders to identify the KPIs that genuinely measure performance for that process, then determine what data is required to analyze both the KPI itself and the underlying factors driving its performance
Partner with the Data Engineering and Data Science teams to translate those KPI and data requirements into validated data models — confirming the models actually deliver on the business objective identified in the step above, not just that they're technically complete
Partner with business stakeholders to scope analytical requests, clarify objectives, and identify the right metrics and data sources before analysis begins
Create visualizations that provide business insights for our global customers — dashboards, cash-flow projections, histograms, projective analysis, financial analysis, KPIs, and SLA reporting
Use SQL to independently mine data and translate business needs into clear, creative visualizations
Validate data and reporting outputs against SAP as the source-of-truth ERP, identifying and resolving discrepancies before they reach stakeholders
Assess data quality and flag data quality issues to the Data Warehouse team; support data governance practices
Leverage AI tools (e.g., Copilot in Power BI, generative AI for data exploration and narrative summaries) to accelerate insight generation and surface patterns in large datasets
Demonstrate critical thinking and sound judgment to offer thoughtful, concise input toward problem resolution
Collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, functional teams, and other data analysts to develop insight-driven visualizations
Support requirements gathering, design, deployment, and change management for reporting projects (entry-level project management)
Build and demo prototypes to stakeholders — peer groups, business partners, and senior leaders
Support and train peers/SMEs on report usage, troubleshooting, and results analysis
Develop leadership skills to promote ideas, coordinate work, and plan deliverables within a project team
Education, Skills and Abilities:
Experience with Microsoft Power BI (required); DEX (Deployment Pipelines/Dataflows Experience) knowledge strongly preferred
Working knowledge of SAP as an ERP/data validation source
Entry-level SQL proficiency for data querying and mining
Exposure to AI-assisted analytics tools (Copilot, generative AI for BI) a plus
Entry-level experience with data analytics concepts — data dictionaries, data mapping, normalization concepts
Basic project management and business process modeling
Minimum Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, or closely related field
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical issues to both technical and business audiences
Strong analytical skills with the ability to solve problems effectively and in a timely manner
This opportunity offers a competitive benefits package including:
Medical, dental, and vision coverage with wellness benefits
Company-matching 401(k) plan
Company-paid life insurance and accidental death & dismemberment benefits
Company-paid long-term care coverage
Company-paid disability
Flexible spending and health savings accounts
Company-paid employee assistance program
Paid time off and paid holidays
Additional benefits included: voluntary life insurance, legal benefits, critical illness, accident insurance, and pet insurance
