Requirements

Candidates must be able to operate cleaning equipment, handle chemicals safely, and lift heavy equipment. Strong attention to detail, a positive team attitude, and the ability to follow safety and infection prevention protocols are required.

Position Summary:

Our mission at Oaks Church is to see lives changed and made new through the love we show in and through our work. Our facilities department supports this mission by providing a safe, clean, and welcoming environment. Along with great customer service.

The Facilities – Custodian/Floor Tech. will follow routine cleaning and maintenance procedures to maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of building operations and grounds. This position is on the 2nd shift and reports to a Team Leader and a Shift Supervisor.

Key Results & Outcomes:

• Support the Facilities Director and Supervisors.

• Maintain a clean and safe environment

• Respond to the facility needs of both Oaks Church and Life School.

• Assist in general upkeep and appearance of property.

• Respond to additional directives from supervisors as needed.

 

Responsibilities & Duties

Cleaning

• Maintain a cleaning schedule that will include cleaning of floors, wastebaskets, windows, furniture, equipment, and restrooms.

• Keep buildings and grounds, including sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, and play areas, neat and clean.

• Comply with local laws and procedures for storage and disposal of trash.

• Assist in maintaining an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment and request additional supplies as needed.

• Complete all specified tasks on building/section cleaning scopes.

Maintenance and Repair

• Assist with set ups including arranging tables and chairs.

• Assist with laundry of table clothes and towels

• Perform preventive maintenance to ensure the comfort, health, and safety of students and staff.

• Move furniture or equipment within building as directed by Oaks Staff and Shift Supervisor.

• Assist in setting up facilities for special events.

• Utilize task management systems to track and complete tasks efficiently.

Safety

• Assist with opening and closing building each school day checking to ensure that all exit doors are open, and all hardware is working properly during hours of building occupancy. Follow established procedures for locking, checking, and safeguarding facilities.

• Inspect machines and equipment for safety and efficiency.

• Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.

• Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.

• Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.

• Maintain clean work environment.

• Complete daily maintenance and repair reports for assigned area as directed.

Specific Job Skills 

• Ability to read and understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance, and safety procedures.

• Knowledge of minor repair techniques and building and grounds maintenance.

• Ability to operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy equipment.

• Ability to properly handle cleaning supplies and chemicals according to manufacturer

recommendations and established cleaning routines.

• Ability to follow protocols for infection prevention including flu and covid.

This is a full-time hourly position and will require up to 40 hours per week.
