Position Summary
The dependable and safety-oriented Driver – Class C to support our warehouse and logistics operations. This position is responsible for operating smaller commercial vehicles to transport building materials to customer locations while ensuring timely, accurate deliveries and maintaining high standards of safety and professionalism.
The ideal candidate demonstrates strong attention to detail, reliability, and a customer-focused mindset while representing Nisbet Brower in the field.
Key Responsibilities
Operate Class C vehicles safely and efficiently following assigned routes and delivery schedules.
Load and unload materials, ensuring proper handling, securement, and protection of cargo.
Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
Maintain accurate delivery documentation, including logs, mileage records, and fuel usage.
Communicate effectively with dispatch, warehouse personnel, and customers to coordinate deliveries and resolve issues.
Comply with all traffic laws, DOT regulations (as applicable), and company safety policies.
Provide professional and courteous customer service during delivery interactions.
Maintain cleanliness and routine care of assigned vehicles and equipment.
Other duties as assigned.
QualificationsQualifications
Education & Experience
Valid Class C Driver’s License with a clean driving record required.
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Class C driver preferred, ideally within the construction supply or building materials industry.
Demonstrated knowledge of traffic laws and safety protocols.
Experience operating loading equipment such as pallet jacks or lift gates preferred.
Technical Skills
Ability to safely operate Class C commercial vehicles in varied road and weather conditions.
Understanding of proper load securement and safe material handling procedures.
Strong time management skills and ability to meet delivery schedules.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to complete required documentation accurately and timely.
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to safely perform essential job functions in both driving and material handling environments. Candidates must be able to:
Sit for extended periods while operating a vehicle.
Lift, carry, push, and pull building materials, frequently up to 50 pounds and occasionally more with assistance.
Climb in and out of vehicles and onto delivery areas as needed.
Reach, bend, stoop, and secure materials during loading and unloading.
Operate manual and powered loading equipment as required.
Maintain visual and auditory acuity necessary for safe vehicle operation.
Work in varying weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, and wind.
