The Associate Executive Director serves as a senior strategic partner to the Executive Director, providing oversight for grants, programs, and organizational systems. They represent the organization to external stakeholders and ensure operational alignment across the team.
Candidates must have 8 or more years of nonprofit leadership experience with a demonstrated background in grants management and operations. A bachelor's degree is required, with a preference for advanced degrees in fields such as nonprofit management, public health, or social work.
We are looking for an Associate Executive Director to support a small, growing nonprofit with a national platform and a mission focused on mental health, equity, and community care for underrepresented communities.
This is a focused-scope senior leadership role designed for an experienced nonprofit professional who can operate as a strategic partner to the Executive Director while working within a part-time schedule. The role is intentionally structured at 20 to 30 hours per week so the right person can make a meaningful impact without taking on a full-time executive workload.
This position may be hybrid for Maryland, D.C. and Virgina based candidates, with remote arrangements considered for the right fit.
This role is intentionally designed as a focused part-time leadership position. The Associate Executive Director will provide senior-level oversight, strategic partnership, funder stewardship support, and program coordination within a defined scope.
At this stage, the role is not designed to carry full-time executive responsibility, full ownership of new revenue development, or hands-on implementation of every operational improvement. Scope may expand over time as the organization grows.
