Since our founding in 1999 by industry pioneers, Netspend products have processed billions of dollars in transaction volume and served millions of customers worldwide. The company is headquartered in Austin, Texas with employees worldwide.

We are looking for a strategic and seasoned Vice President of Technology to direct our engineering and infrastructure departments. As an executive leader, you will establish our technical roadmap, scale our platforms, and guarantee that our systems satisfy the stringent compliance and security requirements of the financial industry. You will report to SVP of Technology and collaborate with the COO, SVP of Product, and other key leaders. You will connect technical projects to our primary business objectives. Operating in a fintech environment, as the VP of Technology you will play a hands-on role in overseeing engineering execution, architecture, and operational tasks. You will manage budgets, scale platforms, and strictly enforce regulatory compliance (including PCI-DSS and SOC2) while keeping the technical strategy in sync with the company's immediate priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute the long-term technical vision and roadmap, aligning technology investments with business objectives and market trends.

  • Team Management: Recruit, mentor, and lead high-performing engineering, DevOps, and IT teams, fostering a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and accountability.

  • Architecture & Scaling: Oversee the design and implementation of highly available, scalable, and resilient cloud-native architectures capable of handling high-volume financial transactions.

  • Security & Compliance: Ensure all technology systems adhere strictly to industry regulations (e.g., PCI-DSS, SOC 2, etc.) and work closely with the Infosec team to implement robust cybersecurity measures to protect user data and company assets.

  • Delivery Excellence: Champion agile methodologies and Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) practices to ensure the rapid, reliable, and high-quality delivery of software products and features.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with the Product, Operations, and Compliance teams to evaluate technical feasibility, prioritize the product backlog, and go to market efficiently.

  • Vendor Management: Evaluate, select, and manage relationships with key technology vendors, cloud providers, and third-party API partners.

  • AI Strategy & Transformation: Drive team efficiency and productivity through the strategic adoption of AI tools and technologies. Execute the company's AI blueprint and lead the transformation of the engineering and technology departments into a high-performing, AI-led organization

Organizational Design: Continuously evaluate and evolve the engineering organizational structure to optimize for speed, scale, and cross-time zone collaboration, while establishing clear career progression frameworks to retain top talent.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: 12+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 5+ years in a senior technical leadership role (e.g., VP of Engineering, CTO, or Senior Director).

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

  • Global Leadership: Experience working with cross-geographic teams across multiple time zones, with a proven ability to lead global delivery teams.

  • Technical Background: Hands-on background in modern technology stacks, microservices architecture, and public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fintech Expertise: Deep understanding of the financial technology landscape, including payments processing, banking APIs, ledger systems, or lending platforms.

  • Compliance Knowledge: Proven track record of navigating complex regulatory environments and successfully passing security audits like SOC 2 or PCI-DSS.

  • Leadership Skills: Exceptional ability to attract and retain top engineering talent and communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
