Full job description

Role: Regional Partnership Manager

Reports to: Head of Partnerships

Salary: $75,000 - $85,000

Status: Full-time

Location: This is a remote position; however, candidates must reside in, or within short driving distance of, one of the following states due to the travel requirements (30-50%) to visit partners: Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, Missouri.

Who We Are: National Math Stars ensures mathematically extraordinary students from all communities have the resources they need to reach the frontiers of math and science.

Through our Awards Program, we collaborate with schools and districts to identify and recognize their highest-achieving 2% of 2nd- and 3rd-grade math students. Those students are invited to a competitive admissions process, which aims to select the top talent from all communities. (You could roughly think of this as “the best young mathematician in every ZIP code,” if the US didn’t have quite so many ZIP codes!)

We admit those top students to our Stars Programs and work with them (and their families) over the course of a decade to support their journeys to the frontiers of STEM. All Stars receive access to advanced math opportunities, family guidance, and community gatherings. Within the Stars Program, we have two tracks: (1) our fully-funded Voyager Stars program, targeted at families with significant unmet need for guidance and financial support, and (2) our Pathfinder Stars program, which provides lighter-touch advising and access to partial funding for STEM opportunities. We currently serve over 900 Stars across ten states and are rapidly expanding our reach.

    Role Overview:

As Regional Partnership Manager, you'll lead our Awards Program across your region. We like to describe this role as the best sales job in education: you get to sell a totally free product that helps kids by identifying mathematically extraordinary talent that too often goes unnoticed.

You'll build and sustain partnerships with districts, schools, charter networks, and other education organizations — networking with G/T coordinators, district administrators, principals, and superintendents to generate referrals. You'll raise National Math Stars’ visibility in your region through conferences, presentations, district meetings, and school events to reach families who might not otherwise hear about us.

This is a relationship-driven, target-oriented role: you'll own your region's recruitment funnel end to end. Expect 30–50% travel to visit partners and attend events, especially during peak recruitment season.

We anticipate a start date in October with flexibility for the right candidate. This is a remote position, but candidates must reside in, or within a short drive of, one of the states in this region.

    Key Responsibilities:

The Regional Partnership Manager’s key responsibilities fall under the following categories:

    • Partnership Development and Management
      • Build new partnerships with schools, districts, and charter networks across your region by networking with district administrators, G/T coordinators, principals, and teachers to distribute Math Awards and attract Stars Program applicants
      • Prioritize regional offices and Education Service Centers as an entry point for scale, alongside direct district relationships
      • Maintain and deepen existing partnerships to sustain referral flow year over year
      • Own the handoff from district-level commitment to school-site execution, ensuring interested districts convert into actual distribution of Math Awards
    • Marketing and Communications
      • Identify and prioritize high-ROI conferences and events for your region; represent NMS through presentations and exhibits
      • Build sponsorship and mass-reach partnerships that extend awareness beyond one-to-one outreach
      • Run targeted email and social campaigns to build awareness and interest in the program
      • Develop and test new strategies to reach families and communities furthest from opportunity
    • Selection and Admission
      • Participate in the review, assessment, and selection of finalists and National Math Stars
      • Collaborate in refining admissions processes and criteria to more effectively engage and select our target families

    Skills and Experience:

    • At least 2 years of professional experience, with a preference for those bringing experience in sales, account management, or partnerships at a K-12 focused organization.
    • Strong knowledge of, and existing connections within, the K-12 education system in your region — ideally including relationships with G/T coordinators, teachers, or district administrators
    • High level of autonomy and follow-through; comfortable building systems and relationships with minimal oversight in a remote-first environment
    • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage a high-volume partnership pipeline against firm deadlines
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build rapport across a range of audiences — from superintendents to first-year teachers to families
    • Genuine excitement for our mission: identifying mathematically extraordinary students furthest from opportunity and connecting them to a 10-year path of support
    • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for events and conferences
    • Bilingual English/Spanish (written and speaking) is a plus, but not required. We offer a $2,000 stipend for candidates with fluency in both

    Compensation and Benefits:

    • The salary range for this role is $75,000 - $85,000
    • $1,500 one-time home office stipend
    • 5% non-elective contribution to 401K
    • Comprehensive Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life insurance coverage with 99% employer contribution for employees
    • Generous paid time off from day one, including parental leave
    • Free pie every Pi Day

We value and encourage diversity and solicit applications from all qualified applicants without regard to race, color, gender, sex, age, religion, creed, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, marital status, sexual orientation, physical or mental disability, medical condition, veteran status, gender identity, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local law.

U.S. work authorization is required; National Math Stars is not currently able to support visa applications.

We will review applications on a rolling basis. Invitations for phone screens will start to go out the week of August 17.
